The Christmas Season Is Here: Friday Finds #75
Christmas season is officially here now that Thanksgiving is over. I hope you all had a peaceful, enjoyable day. We’re celebrating with our kids on Saturday. It’s too hard to go two places on a holiday and I really don’t mind getting together a few days later. For me, it’s about being together and having a stress-free day. So I spent yesterday cleaning the house and doing some Christmas decorating.
Rather than have a second Thanksgiving, I’m throwing a Christmas kick-off party. I’ve got Christmas games for the kids and dinner will be Martina McBride’s pot roast along with a slow-cooker chicken. I don’t eat meat so I’ll have plenty of vegetables and a salad. I have Martina’s cookbook and love every recipe I’ve tried. In addition to having a Christmas party, we’re also celebrating two of my grandson’s birthdays. It’ll be a busy day.
Enough of my Saturday plans, let’s move onto this week’s Friday Finds.
I want to start with this charming 1900s Victorian home tour, located in a California fishing village. The tour includes an interview with the owner of the retreat.
Next up is a gorgeous kitchen and family room. I love the wallpaper in the family room and the island in the kitchen is amazing – not to mention the custom cabinets.
You’ll find beautiful Christmas inspiration in shades of green at Paper Mulberry, a favorite blog of mine. I just wish Glenda posted far more often than she does.
Alisa at A Glass of Bovino shares the prettiest green paint colors. I’ve been thinking about painting my bedroom green and there’s a couple shades on her list that I’m considering.
If you’re looking for simple Christmas decor, look no further than this post featuring a dried orange garland. Perhaps more striking is the beautiful, vintage fireplace where it hangs.
You’ll find gorgeous Christmas wreaths in beautiful rooms at Real Home, a U.K. website.
Finally, if you get some time this weekend for baking, try my peanut butter cookie cup recipe. These are so easy to make and have become my favorite holiday cookie.
Enjoy the long weekend – and stay safe out there if you plan to do some holiday shopping!
I’m so excited for all of the Christmas decorating posts and of course the holiday home tour! LOVE the decor in the photo of this post -wow, so beautiful! I’m putting up a small flocked alpine style tree today. Spending most of my time in the spare room with my pup after her knee surgery so decided to just decorate that room and the kitchen this year. 🙂
Wonderful post today. I could live inside the Paper Mullberry blog…so beautiful, simply heavenly. Love the green paints. Always a favorite of mine decorating my houses through the years, but currently only have two green bedrooms. You had me at the mention of peanut butter cups…..will definitely be making those little beauties. Your Christmas kick off get together sounds perfect….enjoy!!!
The green paint color blog was enjoyable. When we moved into our new home 30 years ago I painted our master bedroom green, two different greens years apart. I was into Laura Ashley bedding in those days. It has been a pretty cream now for years but have been considering a very pale blue/green grayish tone lately. Love all the Christmas trees.
That house was so what I would love to have. Also that kitchen and family room, so many ideas and am so glad greens have changed since all that ugly green in the 70’s.
Love all the green! One of my favorite colors.
Wow on the greens, I’ve always been partial to green but alas my husband not so much. I loved the Paper Mulberry post too.
