Attractive Family Room in Neutral Tones and Classic Details
Step inside a classic bungalow family room that’s light and bright with timeless details. Styled by designer Emily Henderson, the home features Roman shades from Blinds.com. The neutral tones allow the architectural details to shine, like the coffered ceiling and the amazing windows.
The walls are painted a soft green-gray called Aloof Gray by Sherwin Williams. A complementing dark blue rug grounds the room. The family room features an eclectic vibe with touches of mid-century modern decor.
Another angle of the family room reveals a bay-style window with a vintage desk. Plaid arm chairs join the contemporary sofa for a cozy conversation area. And isn’t the ceiling amazing?
I like the clean, uncluttered look in this space. It’s simple but well-decorated with lots of natural light. This room is perfect for plants with all the sunlight. The painting of the boy was found in a local antique store.
The bar cart creates a convenient way to entertain guests. Soft Roman shades provide privacy and block harsh sun rays in the middle of the afternoon.
Have you noticed some of the quirky furniture in the family room, like the modern end table? And notice the unique leg placement on the desk, which is a family hand-me-down.
This room was gutted before it was redone. The woodwork was natural but was painted white during the renovation. The owners wanted a light and airy feel and felt the dark wood was a bit depressing.
If you like the family room, you can see the entire house on Curbly, including some before photos. All photography is by Melissa Oholendt.
Really do not like at all..too boring! U should feature Dave and Jenny Marrs..so much. So lovely interiors..thx
Agreed Lynda. Too sparse and cold.
The ceiling and flooring are beautiful. The blue rug and other blues were great with the pale grey walls. The furnishings were splinded with the grey walls. Nothing was over powering with heavy furniture and globs of pillows. Very comfortable and roomy.
