The Gorgeous Colors of Fall

Although I love summer, I love fall too! I'm enjoying the emergence of the gorgeous colors of fall. Everywhere you turn there's visual evidence of autumn's charm. From the turning of leaves to the gathering wheat in the farm fields, there's an abundance of eye candy. Wouldn't it be fun to stack a pile of pumpkins, squash, and gourds out in the yard? Our local farm market is now carrying a variety of heirloom pumpkins. Photo by Rikki … [Read more...]

The Snuggery: Charming Home Tour

Today's charming home is located out east and features beautiful architecture and some amazing light fixtures. You might remember earlier this week I confessed that lighting is my decorating weakness (I'm working on it though). I was impressed not only by this home's chandeliers and lights, but its open spaces with bright and airy appeal. The project is by Stephens & Company, Inc. and the photos were taken by Wendy Mills Photography. The … [Read more...]

The Secret to the Perfect Pie

Do you remember the first time you baked a pie?  I sure do!  I was a nervous wreck. It was back in my high school home economics class. Our teacher was explaining the intricacy of making pie crust and all the mistakes that could be made.  I thought for sure I would fail our pie-making test and I would be the laughing stock of my family. We were tasked with making a crust with either shortening or oil. My group was the only one … [Read more...]

Enjoying Baseball and Family Time

This post is part of a social shopper marketing insight campaign with Pollinate Media Group® and TONY’S® Pizza, but all my opinions are my own. #pmedia #BigPizzeriaTaste you a baseball fan? I'm kind of an on-again off-again fan when it comes to America's favorite past time. I'd rather enjoy the game live and in-person than watch it on TV (it tends to put me asleep). But my favorite games this time of year are … [Read more...]

How to Have Fresh Smelling Laundry

When I was a kid I remember watching my grandmother set up her clotheslines and hang the laundry out to dry. Weather permitting, she always hung the bedding out on the line and it was fun walking between the clotheslines with the sheets flapping in the wind. I'd pretend the sheets were the walls of my little fairy house out in the woods, with my grandmother's towering pine trees overhead. And now as a grown-up, I find myself wanting to have fresh … [Read more...]

My Painted Claw Foot Tub

A couple weeks ago I had no inclination to change my bathroom and I'm not really sure what prompted this project, but my painted claw foot tub now has a new look! I decided I wanted a bold stroke of … [Read more...]
