Relish the Joy of a Tempting Summer Porch: Ultimate Relaxation
The summer porch. Those words conjure an image of a Norman Rockwell painting or a scene from the Andy Griffith show with Aunt Bea serving lemonade on the porch while Andy would strum his guitar. Before the days of air conditioning, an outdoor porch was the place to be to cool off from the heat and greet neighbors passing by. See today’s collection of pretty porches that could easily tempt you to linger outdoors during the last month of summer.
If a pair of comfy rocking chairs doesn’t entice someone to sit out on the porch, I don’t know what will! I don’t have rockers on my front porch, but I do have a glider that’s just as appealing.
This porch has both a swing and a set of wicker rockers. The wicker flower box completes the vintage vibe of this pretty summer porch.

Your comment about the “dime store” brought back memories! It also made me realize that what we called the “dime store” is now the “dollar store”!! Except that last year the “dollar store” became the “dollar and twenty-five cent store.” Our grandkids will get a kick out of hearing about the dime store. I had absolutely forgotten that we called it that.
You are exactly right, Deb. It hadn’t even dawned on me that our old dime stores are now dollar stores (at least.)
Oh I love front porches. I have mine decorated with a bench, a wicker rocker, pillows, and flowers. However, my front street is a fairly busy street, so don’t really sit out there that much. Mostly just work or putter around out there. Enjoyed seeing the pics of these lovely porches you shared today.
I don’t think you can ever have too many porches!:)
Bring on the porches, never too many to see and I love the inspiration I get from them.
