Christmas in a Cozy Kitchen

Our farmhouse kitchen just got cozier with a new kitchen island! I waited until it arrived before decorating the kitchen for Christmas. Hubby and I assembled the island in two hours flat. Now that it’s complete, I’m ready to share Christmas in my cozy kitchen. I’m joining other bloggers for our Seasonal Simplicity holiday tour, so be sure to visit their blogs listed at the end of this post. Thanks to House by Hoff and The Happy Housie for organizing today’s tour! (This post contains affiliate links.)

Isn’t she beautiful? Sigh. At least, I think this island is pretty special.

My new kitchen island has a drop leaf that lifts up when you want to use it as a breakfast bar! When you’re done eating, just slide the legs back into the island and drop the leaf. My flea market stools are too high though, so we either need to cut the legs down or find new ones.

I’m so excited hubby and I can enjoy breakfast or any meal here at the new island. I pulled out last year’s deer plates for a nice little brunch setting.

Paper mache ornaments with white patterns fill a dough bowl. You might remember these from the first part of my Christmas home tour. I bought two boxes of them from HomeGoods so I have plenty for a couple of rooms.

A few small touches add a bit of Christmas cheer in the kitchen. I found the stoneware crock at the local flea market  just five dollars! It’s my favorite one.

Small wreaths from Magnolia Market hang at the windows while pretty red poinsettias fill a corner on the counter.

A French mug drying rack displays colorful holiday coffee cups. Friends and family can grab their mug of choice for coffee or cocoa.

Christmas greens fill my favorite sheep planter. I just love their little faces!

But for now, the star of my cozy kitchen is the new island. She’s slightly larger than my old one and has more storage.

  1. you have such a beautiful home filled with the spirit of Christmas. I hope you will share at my party, remember to leave a comment with your link number so we can feature your lovely blog. xo

    1. Thanks Katherine! I haven’t participated in a link party for a long time now, but thanks for the invitation. I have to use my blogging time wisely so I mostly just share on Pinterest and Facebook. It’s faster. 🙂

  2. Hi Jennifer,
Hope you are having a blessed time getting ready for Christ’s birthday. I was noticing your kitchen bar stools and tried to find you make-over but to no avail. Did you feature their makeover? Cute.

  3. Merry Christmas Jennifer to you and your family! Your house is always one I look forward to seeing every year, and I think your new kitchen island looks like it was meant to be there, it fits in perfectly. Your whole house is beautifully decorated for the Christmas season, once again. Just one question, when can I come by for some coffee?! I’ll just sit in one of your cozy corners with a magazine, and you won’t even know I’m there! Looks lovely!

    1. Hi Christine!

I would love to have you drop by for coffee! We can spend a few hours looking through magazines and sharing our favorites. So glad you enjoy my holiday home – thank you so much for your kind words! I hope you and your family have a peaceful and joyful Christmas!

  4. I love your new island, it looks wonderful. I love your kitchen and you did a great job making it merry and bright! Thanks Jennifer for sharing.

    1. Thanks, Marlene!

I still need to move a few more things into that island. I’m so pleased with the extra storage space. This old house definitely needs more storage options!

  5. As always, your decorating is superb. I love your island❤. And even more storage! I think I need one. Husband just chimed in and said I don’t need more storage, I need to declutter. Hmmphh.

    1. Hi Nancy!

Your hubby sounds like my hubby. I do like the island though. I haven’t even filled it up yet. I’m still thinking of more ways to add storage in this old house of ours. It’s a never-ending battle. Hope you have a great weekend!

  6. Sorry to disagree with you, Jen; but the star of your kitchen still remains your amazing tile floor!! 🙂
BTW: Wonderful Christmas cheer going on in that kitchen! Inspiring decor, as usual!

  7. Beautiful! I love that new island and you will love having it for prepping holiday treats. Beautiful decor as always. That lamb planter is my fave too! Have a wonderful holiday – Kristy
