Cottage Gardens, Homes + Lemon Dessert: Friday Finds

Welcome to the month of March! It always feels good to get January and February behind us and look forward to the earth coming alive again. Would you believe me if I told you we had 70 degree weather on Tuesday and 30 degree temps on Wednesday this week? The drastic change also brought hail, winds, and even tornado sightings with it. What a crazy week. I think the worst is behind us, so let’s take a look at this week’s chosen treasures.

Let’s start with a beautiful bathroom in an 1854 Colonial home. The wallpaper is so sweet and the shower is tucked into a sidewall, which is interesting.

Next, let’s head to the Cape Cod area to see inside a charming summer house. I love the bedrooms in this humble abode!

When I think of spring desserts, my mind turns to something lemony. My grandson loves lemon cake and I think he’d be thrilled if I made him one of these individual lemon pudding cakes. The recipe looks super easy. I should have him come over to make it with me.

If you’re making garden plans for the summer, consider adding some of these old-fashioned flowers to create an English cottage garden.

And while we’re mentioning “cottage,” here’s a list of 10 elements for creating a dreamy cottage-style bedroom. You could easily apply this advice to any room to create cottage appeal.

And finally, let’s end with another northeastern coastal home located in Nantucket. I really need to book a trip to visit both Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard. If you’ve been to both, which island did you like best?

    1. Hi Jennifer.
      Happy Spring!
I look forward to seeing how your gardens look this year.
Nantucket has a more relaxed feel to it than Martha’s Vineyard, but it is also extremely expensive to stay there, especially during the summer months. Your best bet is to stay on Martha’s Vineyard, then take the ferry over to Nantucket for the day. You could also save money by staying on the Cape, and then ferrying over to each island to spend long days on each.

  1. That first bathroom is so pretty, loved the wallpaper. I love your Friday Finds always so fun to look through and to get ideas from, thanks.

  2. I love that bathroom in the 1854 Colonial, especially the wallpaper and that wonderful storage above the door. How handy would that be!

  3. Another beautiful post, Jennifer. Thank you for the taste of Spring! I am totally in love with that Cape Cod! The only thing I would change is the placement of the (sleeping) pillow on the bed in the blue room. SMH on why they put it at the foot of the bed.?? My OCD tendencies want to reach in the picture and rearrange that one little thing!! LOL
