How to Create a Welcoming Entry Way
They say you only have one chance to make a great first impression. The same can be said for your home so why not create a welcoming entry way for friends and guests? I turned to Houzz for a variety of examples to add style and warmth to your foyer or mud room.

This bright and elegant entry way makes a memorable first impression.
Rather than load the walls with photos and trinkets, a simple wallpaper adds pattern and interest.

Mmm. So much I love about this entry way! I love the finish on the front door with its big window.
Inside, a Swedish bench greets visitors beneath a gilded mirror.
The wood ceiling adds warmth and rusticity against the white paneled walls.

A roomy entry way allows plenty of space for storage and seating.
Charm is added with architectural details like a Dutch door, lots of small windows, and trim work on the walls.

How about something completely different like a purple painted wall?
Not a color I would normally choose, but in this space, it works!

Sometimes less is more. In this space, adornment is kept to a minimum, allowing the gorgeous double doors and beautiful staircase railing to take center stage.

Want to give your guests something to remember when they step into your home?
Hang something unusual from the ceiling like, I don’t know, a fish maybe?
If you have a large enough entry way, you can turn it into another room altogether.
This couple uses their foyer for a dining room.
Note they still have plenty of space to devote to the entry way.

Some entry ways are so grandiose that their architectural detailing speaks for itself.
But even if your foyer is humble, you can add a statement door to create a welcoming entry way.

If you don’t have a lot of space for built-ins, add a simple catch-all piece for coats and hats.
This piece of furniture is both functional and aesthetically appealing.

One last beautiful entry way to inspire you!
A simple bench greets visitors, but I especially love the door and the window treatment.
The stair railing is unique and shares the color of the front door.
Were you able to gain some ideas for creating a welcoming entry way? I sure hope so!

They’re all so pretty… #1 is my favorite!!
Great choice, Martina! I love that one too!
These are all great ideas for entry ways. I like the last one with the fancy scroll work lantern.
I agree, Sue. That lantern is amazing!!
