When I think of bedrooms, I always think of blue and white. Blue is such a restful color while white lends a crisp pop. Our bedroom isn’t cluttered … rather, it displays a minimalist decor point of view. I’ve tried to include some softness to keep it from looking too cold, but I like that it’s not busy. I think a cluttered bedroom would keep me awake, but that’s just me.
4-poster Ethan Allen purchase. I got tired of the high posts so (gasp) had hubby cut them down.
A few coats of white and finials for the shortened posts transformed the bed to a one-of-a-kind.
The butterfly pillow is one of a pair found at the hospital’s consignment shop.
Its partner lives in the family room. Just $10 for the pair.
The bedding and mattelasse cover is from Martha Stewart’s collection at Macy’s.
wooden chair was a discard from a nearby home that was being raised.
I love the knobs and swirls on the drawers.
The white Santa and church are hand-me-downs from my mother.
Eventually they’ll be handed down to my daughters.
Santa’s supposed to go on a tree top, but you won’t be able to see him way up high,
so he’s taken up residence in our bedroom for the holidays.
A painted barn door rests in a corner of the room next to the window, adorned with a grapevine wreath.
It was too sunny to include the window in this shot, but they’re simply white muslin with ball fringe.
The barn door was used as a coffee table in a friend’s home. I deconstructed and painted it.
Behind the pillows you can see a swirl of decorative trim that hubby added to the headboard.
Thanks for visiting our cozy little bedroom. Old houses don’t have large bedrooms,
but I love snuggling up in the blankets under the eaves.
I may have a dust bunny here and there, but my house will never be cluttered either. I am too organized for that.
The blue walls with white furniture is very soothing. Love that Santa. Think he will be happy on the dresser than on top of a tree where he is not seen as well. Blessings.
I’ll have a blue blue beautiful Christmas in that bedroom. Thx for sharing.

My bedroom is blue and white too. Cobalt blue and white were our wedding colors, and I have wedding photos, cake topper, toasting glasses, and my bouquet as decor. I love it! It’s such a soothing color combination.
Hi Jennifer,
I went to see the house on Beith tonight and we passed Amazing Grace Antiques, it looked so pretty all decorated for Christmas. Your bedroom looks very serene, love it.

Happy Pink Saturday. I love your final comment, “I love snuggling up in the blankets under the eaves.” Poetic and Romantic. I swing between cluttered and minimal. A maze of who-knows-what. You have some lovely pieces in the room – I too love the swirls on the chest of drawers. I’m pinking by 2’s b/c my links is #132, so I’m glad I got to see your post. Thanks, Jenn
PS I remembered when your blog refreshed after I posted my comment. Your header photo reminds me of Becky of Farm Girl Paints’ blog and where she (used to?) live. I think she moved? Jenn

Love your bedroom. I don’t do clutter well either, and your bedroom is so serene and peaceful.
The pops of Christmas on the white painted furniture are PERFECT!
Beautiful and serene bedroom.
So pretty and cozy. I love the bedclothes you have used and the old barn door with a wreath on it.
Very pretty! Just beautiful.
Your bedroom looks nice and cozy under the eaves. The uncluttered look is calming I’m sure.
So serene and peaceful, beautiful. I also use a very uncluttered look throughout my whole house. Take care and have a wonderful week:)
So much to love here! The pretty white chest of drawers really caught my eye, along with the church and Santa. I also scrolled through a few other pages and found your daughter’s wedding – WOWZA, what a beautiful bride and gorgeous wedding, with such a fun touch of whimsy! Loved the children playing on her dress 🙂
Beautiful blue room I love it!
