9 Earthy Kitchen Ideas to Warm Your Heart

kitchen ideas November 21, 2018

Remember when earth tones were popular back in the seventies? They’re making a come back and you’ll find them in every room. Here’s a collection of earthy kitchen ideas to celebrate all of you who are cooking Thanksgiving dinner this week!

Unpainted bead board hugs a small vintage kitchen with all the charm of yesteryear. When I cleaned house for an elderly lady, she made lunch for me on a stove similar to this one. Her historic house was amazing, by the way and ignited my passion for old architecture.

Typically considered a cool color, gray cabinets call to mind the frosty skies of November days. Copper pendant lights and a hardwood floor add warmth while a black stove lends a touch of drama.

White and painted cabinets are still common, but wood finishes are re-surging in popularity and add warmth to an earthy kitchen.

Black or dark gray cabinets create a warm, dramatic kitchen space. I find myself gravitating more and more to moodier rooms like this one.

To create an earthy kitchen with organic flair, add natural elements like a rustic wooden kitchen island or a pretty copper back splash.

You can’t get much more organic and rustic than wood beams, stone walls, and stained cabinetry. This gorgeous kitchen is sure to make any chef feel warm and cozy on the most blustery of winter days.

It’s important to provide ample lighting for a kitchen in darker earth tones.

And don’t feel like you can’t use white cabinets in a rustic earthy kitchen. Opt for your favorite creamy shade of white!

WOW! One is just as beautiful as the other, so glad color and warmth are coming back into our design and décor. As much as the all white rooms look stunning, I missed the warmth color brings.
    Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!

I love the warmth and coziness of these kitchens and am happy to see that coziness even with white cabinets – since mine have been painted white within the past 2 years. I did go with a dark moody forest green paint, a dark wood dining set and copper accents which do warm up the white cabinets. I’ll never be sorry I painted over the 90s yellowish-oak-builder-grade cabinets. It was the best decision ever.

I need help! We just purchased an “almost new” manufactured home. I wanted to use chic farmhouse decor when we were going to build. I still do, however the kitchen cabinets in this home are cherry stained…high quality , but not the color I want for farmhouse. The floors are a grey/white/mocha plank look vinyl. Any ideas about the cabinets? I’m so afraid to paint them.
