Easy Spring Banner: Make It in Minutes

Everything is coming to life out in the yard and to celebrate spring, I have a quick and easy spring banner for you. The past few days have consisted of moving a few things around the house and bringing a little of Mother Nature indoors. Later this week I’m sharing how I’ve spruced up my old farmhouse for the season. I’m so excited that the days are longer; even the grass is turning green!  My projects need to stay simple so I can spend time outdoors. You can make this easy spring banner in a matter of minutes!

Easy Spring Banner to Make in Minutes

Since my time was consumed with spring cleaning and decorating this past weekend, I needed a quick project to add a little color.  I love banners and buntings and this one can be made by even the most clumsy of crafters (not that any of you are clumsy, but if you turn your nose up at crafts because you feel like you’re all thumbs, this is the perfect project for you).

I started with a few, simple supplies. Pre-packaged chipboard pennants with pre-punched holes cost a mere $3 for the package. The printed card stock pages came in a tablet for just a couple dollars too. I love the colors and prints. I found mine at our local Meijer’s.

The next step was gluing the printed card stock onto the chipboard pennants. I used a hot glue gun but you can use any type of glue you have on hand. Then take some twine and feed it through the holes for hanging.

I purposely positioned the printed card stock so that the bottom edges fell below the pennants. The fun part was deciding which order to place the pennants. I played around with the order making sure all the pennants with words were separated by patterns. I love the “pocket full of sunshine” print.

I’ve always been attracted to small, sweet prints … especially florals.

Does this one remind you of the 70s?  Anything with “Love” or “Peace” takes me back to another place and time.

Once your easy spring banner is assembled, it’s just a matter of deciding where to hang it. I love the pennants with holes punched at the top for hanging. It makes it easy to slide the chipboard pennants further or closer together, depending on the amount of space you have to work with.

Be sure to stop back on both Wednesday and Friday to see Part One and Part Two of my Spring Home Tour. I can’t wait to show you what I’ve been up to … some of the inspiration for my spring decorating came from the Chicago Flower and Garden Show.

Have you started sprucing up your home for spring, or done any work in your garden yet?
