Fall Buffet Table Decorations for Entertaining

fall decorating, table setting September 17, 2018

Fall through the Christmas season is the time when our family gets together more frequently for shared meals. Summers are filled with kids’ sporting events and camp activities and once that dies down it’s time to wine, dine, and relax. Rather than set a formal table for our next gathering, I chose to organize fall buffet table decorations for a more casual gathering. (This post contains affiliate links.)

Fall Table Decorating for Buffet Style Meal

Today I’m joining a group of bloggers to bring you 16 fall tables settings. A special thanks to Alicia at A Burst of Beautiful for organizing this event!

Fall Buffet Table Decorations with Fresh Fruit and Wine

My inspiration for today’s fall buffet table decorations starts with a floral table throw. It creates a casual table cloth of sorts to protect the table from plates, silverware, and glasses.

A big wooden bowl of fruit in deep purples, plums, and reds create a focal point for the buffet setting. I always try to serve a fair amount of fruit and vegetables when feeding a group of people. Too many potatoes and rolls make everyone sleepy.

Red and white wine is a must at all family gatherings. Apothic wines are some of my favorites and I always keep a couple of bottles on hand.

The deep red wine looks pretty in Waterford crystal stemware (my mother was a huge fan of Waterford crystal).

Candles are always a great choice for creating ambiance when entertaining.

Everyone can grab a plate and fill it up in the kitchen. Since it’s still warm out, we can sit outside and enjoy the new pond.

Keeping things casual removes a bit of stress and lets everyone kick back and enjoy a lively family gathering.

Love your idea of having a laid back buffet to keep things simple. And the table throw is beautiful and provides the perfect mix of colors for fall.

This is gorgeous Jennifer! I love that you set up a buffet rather than a tablescape. The colors all feel very fall!

I love the table throw – it’s my favorite thing on that table – and it ties everything together in a casual, amazing setting. You have such a good eye for making things both inspirational and beautiful.

Thanks, Pat! I love that throw, too. I saw a similar one in Pottery Barn’s catalog but found mine on Wayfair for less money. 🙂

I love that you shared a simple but elegant buffet. I feel like it can be a struggle to get a buffet table looking pretty and stylish but yours looks so beautiful. LOVE the candles and how you used the basket as a back drop. That one looks lovely in those glasses, too.

Thanks, Danielle! Our family keeps growing so I try to keep making things easier for everyone. I don’t know that I’ve succeeded yet. LOL.

Every hue on your table is a reflection of fall, and that’s precisely what your table reflects.
