Friday Finds #13: Last Weekend of August

This is the last weekend of the last full month of summer and I find myself yearning for May and June so I can enjoy the season all over again. I love the warmth of the sun, the fullness of the Earth, the cheerful songs of birds, and the happy buzzing of bees.

Looking forward, I’m anticipating three short trips – an extended Labor Day weekend trip to Knoxville, a remote yurt vacation in Wisconsin with hubby, and a girls weekend at Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. These short trips to nearby locales are how I treat myself – nothing fancy, just a comfortable place to enjoy nature and see new sights.

Also looking to the near future, I’m definitely getting a bit of painting done in the sitting room and will feature my virtual fall home tour with other bloggers the week of September 14th. My tour is on Tuesday the 15th.

Enough of immediate future plans, let’s see what’s cool and interesting on the internet this week!

My Friday Finds …

Since I’m gearing up for fall decor, I was delighted to find a feature on fall decorating at Midwest Living. There’s plenty of inspiration for getting started.

And speaking of seasons, Centsational Girl shares free printables so you can make four seasonal book marks. Fall and winter is a great time to cozy up with a good book and I think the bookmarks are a clever idea.

Fall is a great time for baking and cooking – and why not enjoy those goodies in a pretty dining room?

I need to do a bit of touch-up painting on the outside of our house before it gets cold outside. Too bad it’s not more exciting like this exterior ranch makeover featured at In My Own Style.

Late summer is perfect for cutting sunflowers and bringing them indoors. I love their sunny faces. I previously shared a couple of sunflower ideas on my blog here and here.

Finally, a fellow blogger shared how she gave her kitchen a quick update with a peel-and-stick wallpaper back splash. So clever and economical!

I hope you all enjoy your last days of summer! We’re hopefully headed to nearby Starved Rock State Park tomorrow to enjoy the trails, caverns, and waterfalls. I’ll take pictures to share later!
