Friday Finds #41: More to Explore

Happy Friday, friends! It’s been a good week here in little old Elburn. The sun is shining, the weather is warmer, and I saw the first robin of the season yesterday! He was hopping his way across the street toward our house. I always get excited upon seeing the first robin and it usually happens in March.

In a little over a month we’re to Chattanooga, Tennessee for a 5-day vacation in a charming Airbnb. We’re scoping out the area as a possible place to retire. I need to get away from the snow and cold. I don’t mind winter weather around Christmas, but that’s about it.

Then we have a short trip to another cute Airbnb in Milwaukee over Memorial Day weekend. Hubby has never been there so I’m going to show him the sights. The company I work for installed some really cool rainwater harvesting water features in Milwaukee – at Reed Street Yards, and the Boerner Botanical Gardens – and we’ll visit those too.

Taking short vacations at Airbnbs or rentals found on VRBO is my new indulgence. Most places deep clean their rentals due to the virus and I feel it’s safer than staying in a hotel or bed and breakfast where you have exposure to other people.

In addition to enjoying the signs of spring this week, I’ve found some cool stuff to look at on the internet.

This week’s Friday Finds …

Since we’re talking about getting away, check out this walking tour of gorgeous Palmetto Bluff, South Carolina. Live oaks dripping with Spanish moss always capture my heart.

Enjoy touring this small, Scandinavian apartment that makes the best use of space I think I’ve ever seen. I think you’ll love it!

If you’ve got spring on the brain like I do, how about a small home decor project to brighten your interiors. This butterfly shadow box is easy to make and looks so pretty.

Are you on Instagram? I love the English country journey of Jo Rodgers who shares countryside inspiration and English country interiors. It’s like you get to travel to new places by looking at her photos.

Finally, don’t forget about my latest book giveaway featuring The Great American House. I’m announcing the winner next Thursday so you still have time to enter for a chance to win the book.

Have a great weekend, and let me know if you see any robins!
