Home Collectibles Trending Now: Beautiful Finds Worth Displaying
Collecting isn’t just a hobby anymore, it’s become a decorating style. More people are filling their spaces with meaningful objects that tell a story, spark conversation, and add layers of character that can’t be found in a big-box store. From flea market treasures to family heirlooms, the most popular home collectibles today are both beautiful and functional. Here are some of trending options to spruce up your home with a personal touch.
Vintage Quilts
Few collectibles bring warmth and charm to a home like vintage quilts (which I recently wrote about). Whether folded in a glass-front cabinet, draped over a bed, or displayed on a quilt ladder, these handcrafted textiles add color, pattern, and history to a room. Prized pieces include traditional patchwork patterns and Amish-made quilts known for their exceptional craftsmanship.

White Ironstone
Ironstone has become a favorite among cottage, farmhouse, and traditional decorating enthusiasts, thanks to Martha Stewart’s love for it. The creamy white finish works beautifully with nearly every decorating style, from English country to coastal. Display collections on open shelves, in China cabinets, or grouped on a dining room sideboard for an effortlessly collected look.

Antique and Vintage Books
Decorative book collections continue to trend as people seek ways to make their spaces feel personal and lived-in. Vintage gardening books, classic novels, and beautifully bound volumes add instant character to shelves and tabletops. Stack a few favorites on a coffee table or mix them among decorative objects for a curated appearance. I’ve been collecting old books for years! Did you know Thomas Jefferson was a huge collector of books?

Art Pottery
Handcrafted pottery has become one of the most sought-after home collectibles for decorating interior spaces. Vintage art pottery and contemporary artisan pieces add texture, color, and artistic interest to shelves and mantels. Even a single pottery vase can make a statement when displayed as sculpture. Shop local art fairs and enjoy pieces from artisans in your area.

Transferware
Blue-and-white transferware remains a favorite among collectors who love timeless style. Plates, platters, pitchers, and serving pieces are often displayed in hutches, plate racks, or gallery walls. The classic patterns work beautifully in both traditional and modern homes. Brown transferware is also a prized possession and works well for Thanksgiving dinners.

Vintage Pyrex
What began as a practical kitchen staple has become a highly collectible decorative accent. Colorful Pyrex mixing bowls and casserole dishes bring cheerful vintage charm to kitchens and dining areas. Gaining in popularity once again, enjoy displaying their favorite patterns on open shelving where they can be admired every day. You can find pieces at garage sales and second hand stores for good prices right now.

Wooden Dough Bowls
Antique wooden dough bowls continue to be popular for their rustic beauty and versatility. They work as decorative centerpieces, catchalls, or seasonal displays filled with natural elements. Their weathered patina adds warmth that newer pieces often can’t replicate.

Mercury Glass
Mercury glass has remained a favorite among home collectibles thanks to its reflective surface and vintage elegance. Vases, candleholders, and ornaments catch the light beautifully and add a touch of glamour to any room. It’s especially popular during the Christmas holiday.

Vintage Baskets
Most people appreciate antique baskets for both their beauty and usefulness. They add texture to interiors while providing storage for blankets, magazines, plants, and other household items. Large floor baskets and gathering baskets are especially popular in cottage-style homes. They work great in any room of your home – from the bathroom to the kitchen to the bedroom and beyond.

Architectural Salvage
Old windows, corbels, shutters, doors, and carved wood fragments are increasingly being collected as decorative objects. These pieces bring authentic age and character to interiors and often serve as focal points in a room. No two pieces are exactly alike, making them especially appealing. Think about how you can add old trim to doorways, windows, or mirrors.

Why Home Collectibles Are So Popular
Today’s interior decorating trend is moving away from perfectly matched furniture sets and mass-produced accessories. Instead, people are creating spaces that feel unique and personal through collections that reflect interests and experiences. The best collections aren’t necessarily the most valuable. They’re the ones that tell your story and make your house feel like home.

Simply beautiful !
I had to check to see if this was a repost from about 10 years ago. I LOVE every one of the pictures and “trends.” In fact, I already/still decorate with MOST of them. I sold my collection of antique quilts after we downsized. It makes me happy that someone else is enjoying them as much as I did. Not long ago I let go of the mercury glass pieces… but I kept the “real stuff.” Tee hee Thanks for the heads up on these sweet trends. It was a great start to my day!
Thank you for a wonderful post. I am an antique dealer and I have definitely noticed a new interest in these wonderful objects and collections.
Thank you.
Danielle
