Red and White Decor: Fresh Summer Rooms We Love
Red and white decor is one of those timeless color combinations that never seems to go out of style. While itโs often associated with holidays or country homes, it can also feel surprisingly light and fresh during the summer months. Crisp white keeps rooms bright and airy, while touches of red add energy, warmth, and personality. Add a hint of blue, natural textures, and plenty of sunlight, and the result feels right at home in a lakeside cottage, beach house, or country retreat.
Hereโs a look at nine inspiring spaces that show how versatile and inviting red and white can be.
A bright living room demonstrates how white should take center stage when decorating with red for summer. The gingham pillows, floral accents, and cozy throw provide just enough color while maintaining an airy, relaxed feel.

Light wood-paneled walls give this family room warmth without making it feel dark. The red-and-white upholstery adds a playful, summery touch that feels straight out of a favorite issue of Country Living.

The connection to the screened porch and lake beyond gives this room an effortless vacation-home atmosphere. Soft red accents, woven textures, and touches of pale blue create a palette that feels both cheerful and calming.

This kitchen captures the spirit of a classic 1920s lake cottage. Vintage appliances, striped fabrics, and painted chairs create a collected look that feels welcoming rather than overly styled.

White cabinetry and a delicate blue-and-white backsplash keep this kitchen feeling cool and bright. The striped sink skirt and vintage-inspired details add personality while reinforcing the casual cottage aesthetic.

This sun-filled dining room captures the fresh, relaxed spirit of summer with weathered red wicker chairs, crisp white architecture, and sweeping lake views through walls of windows. The combination of natural textures, faded red and white decor, and abundant sunlight creates a welcoming cottage atmosphere that feels both timeless and effortlessly inviting.

A charming built-in breakfast nook proves that even a small space can make a big statement. The rich wood tones paired with red patterned cushions feel classic and inviting, while the lake view keeps the look fresh and summery.

Vintage-inspired bedding in red, white, and pale blue brings gentle color to this restful bedroom. The painted plank walls and lakeside view create a peaceful retreat perfect for summer mornings.

Dark wood walls add cozy cabin character, while the red-and-white quilts keep the room feeling bright and inviting. Small touches of blue provide contrast and help soften the richer wood tones.

And finally, a vivid red wallpaper instantly transforms this small bathroom into a memorable space. White beadboard and a classic vanity balance the bold color, preventing it from feeling overwhelming.

Why Red and White Decor Works for Summer
Unlike heavier color combinations, red and white decor naturally feels crisp and clean. White reflects light and opens up a room, while red introduces warmth and energy without requiring large amounts of color. Whether paired with cottage florals, classic stripes, gingham patterns, or vintage quilts, the combination evokes memories of lake houses, summer vacations, and carefree afternoons.

Oh those twin red and white quilts are darling. Red and white and black and white is my favorite go to.
I found something in all of these rooms to love, but then I’m also a fan of using the color red in small doses. It does something that no other color can do in the right dose. Great post!
I love red and white–my favorite are the white kitchens with blue and white delft tiles and red accents!
I absolutely LOVED EVERY SINGLE SPACE! Gives me some wonderful ideas on applying the red/white to my blue/white bedrooms and baths for the summer. THANK YOU, THANK YOU!
Pretty rooms, I do use a little red in some of my room. My mother loved red so she had a lot in their house and red reminds me of mom.
What an impact red makes in these rooms. Yet it’s not overpowering. They seemed to have used just the right amount of the color in each room. Lovely.
