Normally we think of the fall season as the time to start adding pillows, blankets, and other textiles to our home. But don’t forget about the warmer months! See how to add summer textile to any room to create a comforting vibe – like this dining room with white linen slipcovers on the chairs.
A colorful rug is a great way to create a fresh look in the living room – or any room for that matter. Summer is perfect for adding color in your house.
Summer days are typically hot, but sometimes evenings can be cool. Throw a light quilt over each chair when entertaining into the evening so guests can stay warm.
Speaking of quilts, I love any kind of handmade quilt for a summer bedroom. My mother used to pick up Amish quilts when traveling; their quilts are extremely cheerful in color.
Patriotic patchwork quilts are a great option for adding summer textile to your bedroom.

Striped fabric covers a pair of daybeds in a summer sleeping porch. Swap them out for a darker and warmer pattern in the fall.
Farmhouse animals and butterflies are a good fabric pattern for pillows. And let’s face it, swapping out pillows is probably the easiest way to freshen up a room.
A light linen sofa looks fresh for the summer season. When you have neutral furniture, it’s easier to play with pillow patterns and colors.
Consider changing curtains with fresh summer textile. Cotton and linen are light weight fabrics that create breezy appeal – save heavier drapes for fall and winter.

In the summer I like to use bright colored kitchen towels like the red and white one shown here. And did you notice the “curtain”? Red and white baby outfits are clothes-pinned in place.
Consider taking your kitchen towels out of the drawer and displaying them on an open shelf for added color. Stripes always remind me of summer!

These are great ideas. I use different kitchen towels, pillows and curtains in the summer. Have a great week.
I keep white all year but, I do change pillows, flowers etc.. according to the calendar.
Maybe even add a few new pieces here and there.
