How to Create a Colorful Kitchen on a Budget
This past year I’ve been adding more color to my house, including the kitchen which was hard because I love a white kitchen. But I also like a cheery kitchen and was happy to find some cool stuff at Crate and Barrel that would work perfectly in my unfit kitchen. I haven’t purchased anything yet, but plan to. Before I get into that, here’s a few examples of a colorful kitchen you might enjoy. (This post contains affiliate links – see my privacy policy.)

So how do you create a colorful kitchen like one of these inspiration photos? You can always paint your kitchen cabinets, or just the kitchen island if you have one. Paint isn’t too expensive, but it can often be a lot of work. Especially in the kitchen where there’s a lot of hardware to remove.
You can also add colorful items on my open shelves or on the kitchen counter. It’s typically less money, it’s definitely less work, and it’s more fun! As I was thinking of color options, I came across some great appliances and kitchen wares at Crate and Barrel.
What first caught my eye is a product line called Haden. It reminds me of SMEG appliances but is much more budget-friendly. Most of the Haden appliances are now available in aqua, blue, and gray, with a few pieces available in pink (which my daughter would love).
Here are some fun colorful accents for your kitchen from a variety of vendors:
I hope you enjoyed seeing these colorful kitchen options.
Crate and Barrel is a store we don’t have in Australia but I wish we did. I often look at their site and always find something I like. They do ship but it gets expensive. Love the coloured kitchenware especially the yellow pots. Colour in the kitchen can only be a good thing. Thanks Jennifer.
Love that purple island! Had I been asked before seeing it I would have thought not. I’ve just switched over my winter decor to spring green and am enjoying the change, something that will be good for quite some time as we slowly segue into real spring here in the foothills of the Rockies. By the way, are you still planning on participating in that marathon somewhere in California?
I switch out my curtains from white to blue print and even my towels and a few dishes on my open shelves. Love the colored appliances I need to try them when mine wear out. Loved all the kitchen examples.
I love the blue gas range and the pastel appliances and cookware. Thank you for sharing.
I love the lilac island! Probably not a color I would ever pick on my own because I would be “afraid” of the boldness, but hey, it’s only paint, right? Thanks for the colorful collection of kitchens. I’m going to be looking for some of those appliances, too.
Love the blue and yellow kitchen. Cute vintage look, it would be pretty in a house with pastels and pops of bright color here and there. That is the nice thing about paint…it can eventually be changed if desired.
I love this Haden line prices are better than Smeg’s. The pink is adorable.
