How to Decorate with Lilacs in Your Living Room
You don’t need to be a professional florist to decorate with lilacs or any other type flower. Today’s floral arrangements are casual and fuss-free, allowing you to create simple bouquets without sweating the rules of formal flower centerpieces. Use flowers that are blooming in your garden, and you’ll have both economical and easy flower arrangements.
Grab an everyday vessel, like this enamelware pot, and fill with clippings from your lilac bush. I didn’t spend anytime arranging these blooms. I like their messy look and didn’t bother to clean up the flowers and leaves that fell to the table.
The simple bouquet takes center stage in my farmhouse living room. It’s big, it’s lush, and the sweet lilac fragrance fills the room with its intoxicating scent.
On the side table, a simple vignette of vintage aqua bottles and a single lilac bloom add a touch of color.
A backdrop of white ironstone pitchers completes the springtime vignette.
A single bloom looks just as pretty as a big bunch of the sweetly fragrant flowers.
A row of lilac blooms on the shelf above the loveseat are all that’s needed to decorate with lilacs.
I lined up 5 of my white milk glass pedestal tumblers as vases on the barnwood shelf.
Using items from around the house, flowers from the garden, and a bit of my time, I was able to brighten my living room and decorate with lilacs. No money spent! Soon I’ll be decorating with Virginia Bluebells!

I wish we had those here so I could clip them and use them. I don’t think I have ever smelled them either. Those are so pretty in your home.
So pretty! I bet your house smells fabulous!
I can’t believe you have lilacs blooming so profusely already! We here in SE Wisconsin have had freeze warnings as recent as three nights ago! Not much blooming yet– but I’m looking forward to when my lilacs finally perfume the air. They’re one of my favorites. 🙂
Your lilacs are beautiful and I am sure your house smells wonderful. No lilacs around here, but would love them.
Hugs,

so pretty. our lilac bush is in front of our kitchen window, so when it’s in bloom, I open the windows and the aroma is intoxicating & like you, I clip a few branches off to bring inside. love the barnwood shelf.
beautiful. I love lilacs. I cut a few and added them to my blog header at the beginning of the month, I know your lovely room smells wonderful too. Hugs!
I can’t wait our lilacs are a few days away from blooming. I love bringing them inside. Not only are pretty but smell great, yours are lovely

You are so lucky to have lilacs, I don’t think I have ever seen them here. They are one of my all time faves and their perfume is heaven itself. The color makes a lovely splash with your white furniture too.
I bet your home smelled just fabulous! I love the lilacs in the small blue bottles. So sweet!
So beautiful! I love lilacs and you have featured them in such pretty and creative ways. Thanks for the ideas!

So pretty, Jennifer! Love how you have them displayed!!
Just beautiful, Jennifer! I love the big crock filled with the lilacs. I think filling a piece like that with one kind of flower makes for such a lovely look.
Beautiful Jennifer and that large crock filled to the brim is so pretty!!!

The lilacs look extra nice in your home the way it is decorated. Love all the vases you used especially the milk glass and small vases. I was just reading about Virginia bluebells this morning and thinking we should plant some.
Oh my gosh Jennifer! I’m so jealous of those beautiful lilacs you have all over your house! I’d pretty much walk around with my nose in a bunch of them for all of spring if I thought I could get away with it. It might look a bit silly, but I’d be so happy 🙂
