  1. I just have to be focused on my small- 1500 sq ft- 2 story old (1880 with hideous updates over the decades, lol) upstate/central NY house, lol. (Think Syracuse and Utica, NOT the lovely Hudson /Catskill regions.) And be realistic with the incredible cost of materials, wood, etc, Plus, there is a dearth of carpenters, plumbers, etc here- young people aren’t going into these trades. I can’t get a basic window replaced, and my furnace guy is over 60 and worn out from over work. While I love all your gorgeous homes, for inspiration, just not attainable for me, or anyone I know.
And while I love that narrow hallway makeover, I am living with old, mismatched floorboards and stair treads, worn hardwoods, etc. and would love to sink my feet into a lovely carpet. It’s just me, a single older woman, and it just seems more than I can tackle. Any suggestions?
