My Favorite Cooking Hacks

Cooking is something I’ve enjoyed doing ever since I took Home Economics in 6th grade. I thought it was so cool that we actually got to spend time at school cooking stuff! That class whet my appetite for being creative in the kitchen and to this day, I still enjoy trying out new recipes and blending new flavors together. To streamline things in the kitchen and to make clean-up easier, I rely on a few little tricks of the trade. Today I’m sharing a couple of my favorite cooking hacks!
Both of my fave cooking hacks use PAM Cooking Spray. I love this stuff! One of my pet peeves is when foods stain my plastic food containers. No matter how hard you scrub, you just can’t get the stains out.
To prevent foods from staining, simply coat the inside of the plastic food container with a light dusting of PAM Cooking Spray. And an added bonus … PAM Cooking Spray leaves *99% less residue than margarine or bargain-brand cooking sprays, so you’ll spend less time cleaning up (* vs. leading cooking sprays (except olive oil), after spraying on glass bakeware, baking at 400°F for 30 min, cooling, and then washing in standard home dishwasher with detergent and repeating 4 times).
When you reheat your food, the coating of cooking spray keeps the foods from staining your storage container! No more scrubbing (to no avail) your plastic containers to get rid of the stains. They stay looking like new.
This is super important to me at this time of year, because we can and freeze a lot of tomatoes from our garden. When I get tired of canning or run out of jars, I freeze the sauce from the tomatoes. By applying the PAM Cooking Spray to each container, I no longer have to worry about stains later on.
My second favorite cooking hack involves slicing onions, garlic, veggies, you name it! I hate when pieces of the vegetables stick to the knife and you have to keep wiping the food off. To prevent this, add a light coating of PAM Cooking Spray to both sides of your knife. The onions won’t stick or veggies won’t stick, which makes slicing and dicing easier and faster!
So I’d love to know … what are some of your favorite cooking hacks?
