Rustic Lake Home in South Carolina

Charming Home Series, home tour March 24, 2019

Sometimes when I find home tours to share, I think – this is my new favorite home! There seems to be no shortage of beautiful homes and today’s rustic lake home is definitely on my list of favorites!

Although the house is light and airy, it’s also warm and comforting. I think the architectural details combined with the variety of finishes throughout, create a welcoming and cozy environment.

The kitchen is functional and pretty at the same time. Painted wood ceilings pair with metals and wood to provide texture and interest.

I’m swooning over the big rusted wall clock! And I like the fact that the cabinets in the butler’s pantry are a different color than the kitchen cabinets. It creates a bit of depth.

Pretty patterned slip covers lend an air of elegance to the kitchen island bar stools.

Do you love leather chairs? I do, but I’m afraid to have leather chairs because of our kitties. They still have their claws and I fear they’d ruin the leather. But maybe not. Let me know if you’ve successfully partnered cats with leather in your own home!

Have you noticed the ceiling treatment throughout the home is the same? It’s a great way to tie one room into the next. The roman shades at the window of the entryway is what I’m looking to use in my family room. They’re so expensive though.

Look at the beautiful bathtub! You’d feel like you were bathing in the woods with all the trees outside.

The staircase is beautiful with its unique “spindles.” The worn rug provides texture against the tile floor.

The rustic lake house is just as pretty outside as it is inside!

The use of both wood and stone give it the perfect appearance for a wooded lot.

I like the sharpness of this lake home. The overhead light fixtures are unusual, very fitting. I would like it for my total 365 days.

A sister, who for years has had a leather couch and cats in her home, says that in order to keep from slipping when they climb on the furniture to get to a window view or similar reason to get up high, their claws can be damaging, but she just avoids putting the couch near a window. Personally, I’ve followed her lead and not had a problem since my one piece of leather, a chair, is away from a window. I’ve not found that they are attracted to the leather for scratching purposes – but then they are cats and are unpredictable, which is one of the reason we love them.

If you can sew straight lines, you can make roman shades. They are unbelievably easy! It’s amazing what they cost to buy when just about anyone could make them. Try it!
