Stunning Swedish Home with Beautiful Christmas Decorations
Take a virtual trip to Sweden to tour a Swedish home by add:design beautifully decorated for the holidays. European houses always look different from American homes, primarily due to their age. Our residences here in the U.S. just don’t have the same ambiance because the architecture is considerably younger.
Let’s start at the burnt red front door of this Swedish country home that features a heart wreath to welcome guests. I had to take a close look before realizing those are three straw pigs on the steps to the entry, each festooned with a red holiday ribbon.
Upon opening the door, you’re greeted by a graceful staircase in wood and white, with a traditional chandelier taking center stage in the foyer. A small tabletop tree is propped with an elegant vase at the foot of the stairs.
The red and white kitchen already bears the colors of Christmas, but candles and a pair of polka dot pigs create a festive vibe. I adore the pig candleholders.
A built-in hutch provides much-needed storage in the quaint kitchen.
A small Christmas tree is tucked into the corner of the kitchen, behind a post painted country blue.
The dining room in this country home is a bit darker and moodier. But it’s no surprise since Sweden only gets around 6 hours of sunlight during December. Candles are used throughout the room to cast a golden glow as the sun sets.
The Swedish home is large enough to enjoy two main living spaces. A leather Chesterfield sofa with tufted leather chairs provide cozy sitting among plenty of books, so I guess we could call this space the library. A gorgeous Oriental rug adds just the right amount of color in this inviting gathering space.
Stepping into the next room reveals gorgeous wide-plank floors beneath the pretty Christmas tree.
The master bedroom gets cozy with a trio of candles at the end of the day. Pretty floral wallpaper pairs with a vintage metal bed and desk lamp.
Lights can be seen through the first floor windows of the charming Swedish home. In the foreground, a unique teardrop candle holder hangs from a tree as the day comes to an end.

What a gorgeous home. I love the history and design. Those floors oh my and that staircase. Just beautiful. Love the little pigs on the porch. Thanks for sharing Jen. Have a great week as we slide on down to the big day. Hugs. Kris
I love the pigs…wish I could find those. Also wide plank floors. We are happy to have wood floors (oak) but I have always longed for wide plank pine floors. The curving staircase is also nice.
