Turn of the Century Cottage Home Tour

Charming Home Series, home tour January 14, 2018

Although I’ve been attracted to interiors with darker, earthy appeal lately, I’m quite smitten with this light and bright turn of the century cottage. It’s fresh and sophisticated with cheerful color. This beautiful home is designed by Tom Stringer Design Partners out of nearby Chicago.

A beautiful staircase painted white is flanked by  warm wood dresser – I love the combination of wood and white together! The little window makes a nice architectural detail.

Beautiful blue and yellow come together to create a cheerful living room with cottage appeal.

A pair of wicker chairs snuggle up to a fireside table – a perfect spot for playing board games or enjoying brunch on a Sunday morning.

The dining area enjoys a unique chandelier with plenty of windows to take in outside views. Although the room is mostly white, bead board ceilings and walls lend a bit of texture.

A built-in China cabinet provides space for displaying colorful plates. I wish more houses had built-in features like this. I remember my first house had a built-in wooden ironing board in the kitchen that folded down. There were a lot of built-in cabinets and hutches in that craftsman house.

The breakfast nook off the kitchen enjoys plenty of natural light from the bay window. A whimsical chandelier provides light in the evening.

A simple round mirror painted green adds a pop of color in a cottage bedroom.

Green continues in another white bedroom with a black cannonball bed.

Bold patterns snuggle up in a third bedroom with twin beds. The house has a fresh design in its light and bright spaces.

Love this! Lots of color without being overdone and too much sensory overload. Great ideas for anyone to incorporate into her home.

Love the simplicity of the decor. While a little too white for my tastes, I love the areas where they put some color or wood pieces with the all white background. My favorites are the dining space with the two wood tables and, best of all, the black and white 3rd bedroom.

Just bought a tiny historical cottage that needs a rejuvenation like this one. I NEED to know what colour white this is. I’m searching for a pure white and this one is PERFECT.
