13 Ways to Add Coastal Style

We’ve had the rainiest June in Illinois history, but I think the clouds are finally giving way to sunny days ahead!  Finally! It hasn’t really felt like summer but I’m trying to keep my spirits up by looking at beautiful inspiration from my blogging friends. I’ve rounded up some of their decorating talent to show how to add coastal style to your home, so you can bring the season inside regardless of what the weather is doing!

DIY Glass Buoys by Craftberry BushGlass fishing buoys instantly add coastal style when you place them in a basket, in a bowl, on a shelf, etc. Lucy from Craftberry Bush shows how easy it is to make your own buoys. She sets them out with a grouping of driftwood. So pretty!

Coastal Style Summer Mantel by AKA DesignI just adore this pretty summer coastal mantel by Shannon at AKA Design. The little rustic boats are so charming with the fishnet draped over the edge. A pretty painting in the background sets it all off.

Driftwood Inspired Dresser by Finding Silver PenniesAnother way to add coastal style to your home is to bring in colors of the sea. Danielle at Finding Silver Pennies finished this second-hand dresser in a beautiful driftwood color!  A framed sailboat print and a basket of driftwood complete the look in this corner of her home.

Farmhouse Family Room with Pillows from HomeGoodsIn my summer family room, I brought in soft blues and aqua to create the feel of the ocean. The light brown bamboo mat underfoot mimics the sand while the burlap swag is reminiscent of the color of weathered driftwood.

Summer Home Tour at Craftberry BushLucy at Craftberry Bush also uses a lot of ocean blues in her home during the summer months. Her cute puppy Brody has clearly given this comfortable room his seal of approval!

Summer Seashell Wreath by So Much Better with AgeJamie’s pretty seashell summer wreath at So Much Better with Age is a project I’m going to try this weekend. I have the wreath form and the seashells. All you need to do is hot glue the shells on the wreath and voila … you have a beautiful coastal style decoration for any door in your home!

DIY Painted Boat Oars by So Much Better with AgeAnother project from Jamie that I plan to tackle is her DIY painted boat oars. I’ve been looking for some to go in my son’s old bedroom, but haven’t found the right color yet. After I saw these at So Much Better with Age, I decided to decorate my own!

Coastal Style Bathroom by Ella ClaireCoastal style doesn’t have to be relegated to the main parts of your home. Add a little beach style in your bathroom like Kristen did at Ella Claire.
