A Traditional Floral Bathroom That Feels Like a Sensational Garden Retreat

Step inside this beautiful floral bathroom by Laura Design Company that feels more like a serene garden retreat than a utilitarian space. This freshly renovated primary bathroomโ€”part of a 1991 fixer-upper getting a thoughtful, room-by-room transformationโ€”blends traditional elegance with refreshing modern touches. Its new design is a masterclass in how to create a room that not only functions beautifully but also nurtures the senses.

Graceful tree branches, delicate blossoms, and trailing vines climb across the walls, making the space feel alive and connected to nature. The print gives a nod to historic hand-painted chinoiserie panels, grounding the room in timeless tradition while still feeling utterly fresh.

One of the most distinctive aspects of this primary floral bathroom is the separate water closetโ€”a small but impactful space that continues the story of the main room while offering privacy and function. A different wallpaper with a leafy pattern creates a subtle visual shift, distinguishing this room while still harmonizing with the main bathโ€™s palette. Subway tile wainscoting continues the classic theme, and a striped cafรฉ curtain adds softness and charm to the window. With built-in storage and thoughtful accessories, even this small room feels custom, polished, and serene.

To further elevate the design, the room is wrapped in crisp marble tile wainscoting. This classic detail enhances the sense of elegance and offers a visual anchor to the more whimsical wallpaper above. On the floor, large marble tiles laid in a diagonal pattern lend sophistication and movement, catching the light and making the space feel expansive and polished.

The soaking tub, framed in marble and set into a tiled surround, serves as a centerpiece of comfort and style. Positioned under the sprawling floral mural, it invites long, leisurely baths where one can feel completely removed from the rush of daily life. The master bedroom can be seen through the doorway.ย

Overall, this floral bathroom is a celebration of contrastโ€”soft yet structured, traditional yet fresh, playful yet refined. The combination of two wallpapers in complementary patterns is a bold design choice that absolutely pays off, bringing dimension and movement without overwhelming the space. Likewise, the use of natural materials like marble balances the roomโ€™s more decorative elements, keeping the overall look elegant and timeless.

Fresh flowers in a blue-and-white porcelain vase sit atop the counterโ€”an inspired detail that mirrors the wallpaper and enhances the roomโ€™s garden-like essence. It’s these kinds of small, layered touches that give the space its personality and depth. Every element works in harmony, from the elegant stone surfaces to the soft, tactile accessories like hand towels and curtains.

The large built-in vanity, painted in a creamy off-white, offers plenty of storage while keeping with the roomโ€™s traditional aesthetic. Brass knobs add a hint of warmth and sophistication. Above, a pair of simple framed mirrors are flanked by two charming sconces, each featuring a pleated blue shade that adds a dash of contrast and a slightly playful, English-cottage flair.

  1. The entire bathroom is beautiful, except for the light fixtures. Maybe it just the lamp shades make the room look to heavy. Not my style.

  2. The bathroom is beautiful. But, the cabinet in the water closet is so close to the toilet, it doesn’t look very convenient to use.

  3. The wallpaper is gorgeous and does create a garden type atmosphere. I am not an expert on wallpaper so I am wondering how to obtain wallpaper like this. It is certainly specially done because it looks more like a mural than average paper. I am guessing it is from a company that offers “mural wallpaper?” Unfortunately, I do not have a bathroom large enough to pull this mural effect off but I sure do love it!
