Fall in Love with a Warm, Classic Home in Sacramento

If I could wrap this house up in a package and ship it to Illinois for me to live in, I would! I fell in love the moment I spied the cozy breakfast nook. There isn’t one thing I would change about this warm and classic home by Design Shop Interiors. Keep on scrolling and see for yourself!

The entryway above is enclosed with gorgeous molding and a herringbone patterned wood floor. A traditional pendant light illuminates the beautiful space at night. The entry makes a great first impression and sets the stage for the rest of this classic home.

A modern-style chandelier graces the cozy dining room with its wood pedestal table and slipcovered dining chairs. A Turkish rug helps warm the room while simple Roman shades allow natural light to fill the room. You’ll find the same detailed molding in here as you did the entryway.

Just off the dining room is a beautiful chef’s kitchen with an amazing stove and oven dressed in black. You can see the dining room chandelier and windows in the background.  The cabinets and kitchen island mimic the molding seen in the entry and dining room. If you have plain walls in your house, you can easily add molding to them like we did in our dining room

Remember the herringbone floor in the entryway? The backsplash tile enjoys the same pattern. The level of attention to detail is what truly separates a house from others.

This! This is the room that first caught my eye in this warm and classic home located in Sacramento. I love the cafe curtains above the banquette that’s smothered in pretty pillows. The charming round table and wooden chairs are so quaint with a traditional light fixture – similar to the one in the entryway – hanging above to set it all off.

Another view of the breakfast nook reveals soft oil paintings that have become so popular today. I’m trying to find more of these for my own home at an affordable price.

The powder room enjoys an Old World vibe with its dark walls (with molding!), marble sink, vintage mirror, and brushed gold accents. So cozy yet elegant.

I’m interested to hear what you think about the this living room. I realize it might be too dark for some of you, but if you enjoy moody rooms, I think you’ll love it.

Personally, I enjoy this space. It’s the perfect room for winter. Light the fire and cozy up with a book! The gold accents look so rich and appealing against the dark gray walls.

The mudroom features classic farmhouse appeal and keeps outerwear concealed behind cabinet doors.

I love the turn of the staircase leading to the second floor from the entryway. Stairways have always appealed to me, especially unique ones like this.

And now for the ultimate luxury in bathrooms, the Sacramento house features one of the most beautiful bathrooms I’ve seen. Imagine soaking in that gorgeous tub with a fancy chandelier above. Linen café curtains can be pulled close for privacy.

The bathroom is larger than it first appears – it’s definitely my dream bathroom. Traditionally elegant with the freestanding bathtub tucked between two vanities.

Unfortunately, there aren’t photos of the bedrooms, but you can see more projects like this at Design Shop Interiors.

  1. Yes, this is quite pretty. I like the dark rooms, but could not live with them. We will be updating our powder room this spring and I hope to find a sink with legs like that, but maybe a black sink since we have black accents everywhere. Does anyone know who sells these? Like the dining room too, we have a round pottery barn table in the kitchen with slipcovered chairs, I really like the look of them. Don’t get me started on the banquette. I love them, but with a nice cushion seat. Also love the antique Swedish couch/benches with pillows on one side of a table often seen in photos. The chandelier in the dining room adds so much, really perfect there.

  2. It is a pretty home and I love the dark colors. My own living room and master bath are dark gray colors but they have nice light from windows.

  3. I love the living room. There are a lot of details in the rest of the house that are also appealing, but it is very white elsewhere.

  4. Another beauty, Jen! You had me at the front door with those herringbone floors. I too, could spend hours at the breakfast nook table, with coffee, and laptop, in my pjs! Then into the moody blue living room with a good book or binge on a Netflix series. Finally, back up that (swoon) staircase, to lounge in the tub and look at that gorgeous bathroom floor. I’m sure if I had been able to see the bedroom(s), this Goldilocks, would have sampled them all, before settling in for a good long nap, too! A great way to spend the weekend, even if it’s just in my dreams…
