A Vibrant Bedroom Quilt: Simple Way to Beat Summer Heat
Swapping out bedding from season to season is an easy way to give your bedroom a quick refresh. I like to use a colorful and light bedroom quilt in the summer time to add seasonal style and soft comfort for the warmer months. Patchwork quilts are fun and help to liven up your sleeping space. See today’s collection of vibrant quilts for inspiration. (This post contains affiliate links – see my privacy policy.)
This first one is my favorite. Doesn’t it remind you of your grandma’s house during the summer? You can find an almost endless supply of bed quilts on Etsy in a variety of patterns.

If you frequently use air conditioning in your home, you might want a layer of quilts for the bed. This beautiful four poster bed starts with a white matelassé cover followed by a small patchwork quilt. A striped comforter is folded at the foot of the bed for extra warmth, if needed.
A floral medallion bedroom quilt is the perfect choice for this historic home. For added interest, throw in a solid bed cover in a complementary color.

This wood paneled bedroom has a summer cabin vibe with the red and white quilt at the foot of the bed. The view through the French doors is an added bonus.

There are six different patterns on this comfy bed – seven if you want to count the wallpaper pattern. But they all work together due to scale and color. The bedding below is by Wicklewood located in London. They have a lot of unique home decor items.
Here’s another bedroom quilt that might remind you of grandma’s house. Fabric remnants were carefully sewn together to make a beautiful covering for the bed. Repurposing doesn’t get any better than this.
A simple patchwork quilt made with large squares is perhaps the simplest of patterns to sew. Looking at all these beautiful creations makes me want to make my own quilt. I’ve made one in my lifetime – back when I was in high school and wanted to sew a puff quilt for college. I’m surprised I had the patience at that age to finish it.
Most quilts have a single layer of batting so they’re thinner than a poufy comforter. This beautiful four-poster bed only needs a simple pattern.
A quilt at the foot of the bed provides an opportunity to add a shot of bold color in a bedroom. There’s just no end to the patterns and colors you can find. My friend used to take two large pieces of complementing patterns, place a single layer of batting between them, and then sew straight lines at the same distance apart to create a simple quilted effect. Then she’d apply bias tape to finish off the edges.

If your bedroom could use a bit of a change, consider a summer bedroom quilt for a quick update. Whether you choose patchwork, a block print quilt, or even a kantha quilt, you can’t go wrong.
All of these are beautiful. I’ve sewn crib quilts for my 3 grandchildren when they were born, a twin size for my son’s room when he was young, and a few smaller ones as wall hangings over the years. I hope they get passed down in the future!
I find that as I get older, and simpler, I prefer a quilt to a comforter. Just seems like quilts, no matter how busy or bold, bring it down in visual weight. Loved the beautiful rooms and quilts that you shared.
