Create a Beautiful Zen Bedroom in Blue or Green
When you want to create a peaceful, Zen bedroom, I can’t think of more restful colors than blue or green. According to Colors Explained, blue is the most calming color, followed closely by green. Some studies show that the color blue can lower blood pressure and reduce anxiety. No one wants to be stressed as they settle in for sleep, so why not consider blue or green (or both?) for your bedroom?
Blue and white create a coastal vibe which is perfect for the summer season. Sometimes a bedroom refresh is as easy as updating your bedding or hanging a new print on the wall.
Green is closely associated with nature and is used as a healing color in color therapy. Also, green strikes the eye in such a way that it requires no adjustment. Red, on the other hand, is another story. So it makes sense that either green or blue or perfect color choices for creating a Zen bedroom.

Soothing colors, paired with soft fabrics, create a restful bedroom. Shades and drapes, soft bedding, and skirted ottomans create a beautiful and calming bedroom.
On Sullivan’s Island in South Carolina, a somewhat rustic bedroom enjoys chipped green paint on the horizontal-paneled walls. A more modern print on the bedding adds a contemporary vibe to the island bedroom.

Wrap around windows invite nature indoors and make you feel like you’re sleeping in the tree tops. A blue upholstered headboard makes a soothing complement to the greenery outside, while a jute rug lends a bit of texture.
You can easily add blue and green to your bedroom with a new coat of paint or bedspread. Mix patterns of blue and green together for a peaceful room for dreaming.
Pale tan-gray walls blend beautifully with blue accents. Consider keeping your bedspread a solid color and adding a fun print with a pretty bed skirt.
This shade of pale, seafoam green is truly soothing and plays well with a waterfront view through the window. This color is ideal for any bedroom. You can’t help but feel relaxed in this pretty room.
Spring is the perfect season for creating a Zen bedroom. Pale blues and greens lend themselves to the season and are especially pleasing when paired with white. You really can’t go wrong when you use these hues in your bedroom.

Ooohhh! Sooo pretty.
All these bedrooms are lovely. My master has had medium blue walls for a long time and I still love the color. It’s an east facing bedroom so gets wonderful morning light. I use a pale yellow coverlet spring and summer with pillows having blues, yellows and a bit of green. All trim is white. It’s my cozy space.
What a beautiful assortment of bedrooms, I love that green in the last one, so pale and pretty.
I’ve long loved the combo of green and blue and I agree that they are calming in the right shades. Definitely nature’s neutrals! These are gorgeous rooms!
Love the blue & green hues in these bedrooms!
Thank you Jennifer for all of your beautiful photos! I get so much inspiration for my home!
