Cutest East Coast Towns and a Swedish Home: Friday Finds

We’re almost halfway through January! I’m already yearning for summer days but am trying to keep myself preoccupied with projects so I don’t feel blue. More than anything, I’m craving longer days. I miss seeing my house in daylight hours. I wake up when it’s dark, and the sun has already set when I leave work. Lucky for me, we’ve had a lot of cardinals at the feeder which keeps me hopeful for spring and the chirping of birds and the croaking of frogs.

Last week we started doing a little renovation in our downstairs bathroom, but ran into a bit of a snafu with the plumbing, so everything’s on hold until that gets fixed. For now, I’ll enjoy looking at these fun, vintage bathrooms for more inspiration.

Have you heard of Hoppin’ John? It’s a southern dish that’s traditionally served on New Year’s Day for good luck. It was new to me so I tried the recipe and fell in love. It’s super healthy and extremely tasty. I’ll for sure be making it again. Give it a try!

Here’s looking forward to the weekend! We’ve been enjoy “balmy” weather with temperatures consistently in the upper 30s/lower 40s. I’m hoping to get outdoors this weekend for a couple of walks. Enjoy your Saturday and Sunday!

  1. I love winter and now that I am retired and don’t have to go out, I even love snow. However, I do resist the early darkness. I am hoping that the Congress makes daylight savings time a federal law. I had feeling hat it’s bedtime at 5 PM. Your posts are great. I love them all.

  2. Could not determine where your gorgeous primary photo was taken. Is it the exterior of the Swedish home or one of the East Coast towns? Everything interesting, as usual!

    1. This is the most misleading thing ever haha. That picture is of a small diner in New Boston NH, the town I grew up in. But they don’t mention it in the article or the subsequent articles linked. SMH
