Every kitchen needs ample space surrounding their stove top and oven. This is something lacking in my own kitchen, so I added an island right across from the stove. Here, a simple pot rack displays oft-used cooking utensils. Note how the wall has cloudy-mirrored tiles to help reflect light in the kitchen. The filmy effect keeps the mirror tiles from feeling too contemporary.

The cabinetry is painted complementary shades of dark and pale blue-gray colors. The two-toned doors and drawers aren’t seen in kitchens very often, but used here, provides a pleasing, playful effect. Mixed metals were also incorporated with brass hardware on the cabinets and a silver faucet at the sink.

A rich wood, large kitchen island adds traditional appeal with marbled, half-globe pendant lights suspended overhead. I think all kitchen islands should have rounded corners like this one to avoid injuries and bruises to the hips and waist area (you know what I mean if you’ve ever run into a corner of your island).

The English country kitchen has one of the prettiest pantries I’ve ever seen. I love the windows that allow you to admire its beauty when the door is shut. Of course, this means you need to keep your pantry neat and tidy. But that just means utilitarian items like a mixer and bread boards become works of art displayed on the shelves.ย

Step inside the pantry to view its details up close. Wallpaper lines one wall with open shelves and a pretty still life oil painting. A skirted cabinet adds a bit of pattern and color to the small space, while sconce lighting and a tiny table lamp provide illumination at night. The rustic tiled floor adds texture underfoot. And of course, you can’t miss the rich wood of the drawers. So beautiful – all of it!

This view of the pretty kitchen reveals the slightly arched ceiling. To add to its perfection, an oversized refrigerator provides plenty of cool storage for the avid chef.ย

  1. I tend to be drawn to English style kitchens, and this one has some lovely features, especially the pantry and the blue color on the cabinets. But, I don’t think I could handle the two toned cabinets. It’s too busy for me, but that’s just me! Thanks for posting a variety of styles. There are great ideas from all of them!

  2. That pantry is one of the best I’ve ever seen. And the island is gorgeous. That rich wood tone and the rounded corners are great. Not sure I think the two toned cabinets work well with it though. Just seems distracting and not complementary to the wood tones. But nevertheless, beautiful kitchen!
