Mix Up a Moment with Game Day Brownies!
My entire family loves football, which makes me really happy because I enjoy sharing game day with people I love. Now that it’s play-off season, the football conversations are heating up in our home. We recently headed to my daughter’s house for one of the play-off games and I decided to bring goodies to make game day brownies!
In my opinion, brownies are the perfect dessert because they’re quick, easy, and taste so good! Since there always seems to be an ample supply of dips and chips, I thought brownies would be the perfect sweetener for game day at my daughter’s house.
When I was shopping at Walmart, I noticed all the different flavors of Pillsbury™ Brownie Mixes and Frostings and thought, “Why not stock up?” I grabbed several boxes in more than one flavor because they’re not very expensive. Plus it’s nice to always have a box in the cupboard for chocolate-craving moments. I like Pillsbury™ Brownies because they’re always soft and chewy!
My daughter Stephanie is the “Cupcake Queen” so I knew she could help decorate our game day brownies perfectly. My grandson was eager to start decorating once the brownies cooled after coming out of the oven. Using a mix cuts down on time, so he didn’t have to wait long.
I took the brownies out of the pan after cooling, without cutting them. This way, he could easily use the cookie cutters to make the game day brownie shapes. You can store the scraps for snacking on another day. No need to let any of that brownie goodness go to waste. The scraps are perfect for mixing into ice cream!
We cut out footballs and jerseys to decorate. I was lucky to find the football-themed cookie cutters at the store with the brownie mixes.
The next step was decorating the brownies. I love when the family comes together in the kitchen to mix up a moment! We enjoyed a little football smack talk while baking and decorating. My grandson is a huge Seattle Seahawks fan, my hubby is a Steelers fan since he grew up in Pittsburgh, and the rest of us are die-hard Chicago Bears fans, even though they didn’t fare so well this season.
I thought we needed a few girly brownies too, so we made bite-sized sandwich brownies using a circle cookie cutter. Then you just slice the circles in half and spread frosting between the halves. Decorate the tops, or leave them plain. We used Pillsbury™ Vanilla Marshmallow Frosting for these sweet little sandwiches.
I think I like the little jerseys best. My daughter decorated the shirts … she’s had lots of decorating practice from making cupcakes for parties and other people. Our game day brownies were such a hit, I’ve decided to use brownies for a special Valentine’s Day moment with my hubby. I’ll be sharing that idea next week so stay tuned!!
