Discover the joy and charm of a 1908 vine-covered New York Colonial home. Filled with simple style and farmhouse styling, it’s a classic home with timeless appeal. (All photos by Sarah Seung-McFarland.)

The entryway is light and airy, with a nubby sisal rug at the bottom of the staircase.

A beautiful staircase greets you at the front door. I love two-toned stairways (my own staircase has brown treads and white risers like this one).  The natural fabric rugs create an earthy feel in the foyer.

Wide plank wood floors gleam in the living room of this New York colonial home with its clean white walls and slip-covered furniture. A traditional oriental rug adds a bit of rich color to the well-lit space. French doors lead to the sunroom.

Wrap-around mullioned windows let ample light flood into the sunroom that serves as a simple office.

Another oriental rug makes an appearance in the kitchen with its painted cabinets and a simple pendant light. An unexpected oil portrait hangs above the farmhouse breakfast table.

Upstairs, shabby chic style winds its way into one of several bedrooms. Beautiful bedding on the white iron bed makes you want to crawl right in and take a nap. I think I would leave the curtains open at night to enjoy the moonlight streaming in.

Back downstairs, a screened porch provides additional dining space and a place to unwind and relax at the end of the day or on weekends.

A flagstone patio is just outside the screened porch and features pops of red with Windsor and Adirondack chairs.

  1. Love the windows. It would be a showstopper (to me) if it had more color, esp on the walls.
I am no fan of all this white on white on white, sorry.

  2. It really is a beautiful home. I think a touch of color might have made it a little warmer, but still, very nice.

  3. There is so much that I love about this house and so much I want to do to it 😂 I love the pops of red but I would need more layers if it was mine. Obviously that would take away from the Colonial decor….but I would definitely put a window seat with deep cushion and throw pillows in the dining room. Lol. I love the master bedroom. I could jump right into that bed! I would spend hours in the sun room as soon as I add more pillows and fluff!! It is really a very pretty home.
