If I were to list everything I wanna get done in 2012, this blog post would involve so much scrolling down the page that you’d be sure to get carpal tunnel syndrome. For now, I’ll limit it to manageable goals … and goals for which I have pictures taken. So in no particular order …
Paint the house. This photo was taken several years ago so it doesn’t look like it needs painting.
Fast forward about 10 years and this little cottage is in need of a paint job.
Paint the dining room and make some curtains.
Add beadboard to the stair risers.
Paint this desk (are you noticing a trend here? Lots of painting in my future)
in some shade of Annie Sloan Chalk Paint.
Finish the bathroom. Where’d the tub go?
Why, it’s here in the disheveled dining room. Where else would it be?
(Bathroom reveal coming up later this month as a guest post at Ivy Cottage.)
Get our rescue kitty acclimated to the rest of our motley crew.
His name is Puddy and we found him in the basement. Don’t ask. Sigh.
Spend more time with this handsome fella …
And this handsome fella …
And this little princess …
And get my daughter Stephanie hitched to her man, Matt, on June 9th.
Of course, there’s my son’s graduation to attend in May, another daughter to blog with,
aging parents to care for, and a sister to get reacquainted with … so if a few projects around the house
don’t get accomplished because a few people need to come first … that’s quite alright with me!
Do you ever collect things you love and find you have no where to put them when you get them home? Yet you keep buying them because you’re sure to find a spot for it! Such is the case with me and vintage mirrors. I especially love crusty old mirrors that have lost some of…
After changing my dining room to a sitting room, projects around the house came to a sudden stand still. I caught a wicked viral infection that took forever to go away. The bug took its toll on me both physically and mentally and I’m finally feeling back to my old self. A couple weekends ago…
Happy Wallpaper Week! Did you know such a thing existed? This week on the blog I’ll feature beautiful rooms with wallpaper. I’m starting off with a gorgeous craftsman dining room by Prospect Refuge Studio. Photo by Prospect Refuge Studio My first house had rich wood trim like this – and I did wallpaper the…
If you’ve ever struggled with a small dining space and not having enough elbow room at meal time, you’ll enjoy this collection of nine nooks that incorporate both beauty and functionality. Photo by Oak Hill Architects When you have a small dining area, a round table gives the illusion of more space. Play up the…
The Windsor chair is a classic beauty and worthy of a seat at any dining table. This style of chair originated in England during the 18th century and was widely popular during the revolutionary period of America. Windsor chairs were first used in gardens and were typically painted green and left to weather outside. Eventually…
Ever since our world was turned topsy-turvy from the virus, I’ve been working from home. Since I don’t have my normal 25-minute commute, I can linger a little longer over my morning coffee. Here’s a few dining nook ideas that I find to be worthy of your morning coffee. Photo by Carpenter & MacNeille …
You are gonna have a really fun 2012! A wedding? So much fun. Your cottage is so darling, I love to pick new exterior paint colors (mine’s vinyl…boring). I like that desk the way it is and of course the dining room has the tub in it….that was way funny!!! Cheers to 2012. I don’t even know what I want to do. :/
It sounds like a pretty exciting year to me, so if you get anything other than the bathroom done, kudos to you! Your house is very charming. Visiting from Brambleberry Cottage.
That’s quite a list you’ve got!! But, can I say that I’m excited to see the fruits of your labor?! 🙂
I have some Annie Sloane Chalk Paint on my list as well! I can’t wait to see how your piece turns out. SO many pretty shades to choose from, how will you decide?!
Thanks for linking up to the FIRST party at 52 Mantels!! I’m so excited to have your creativity there to inspire!
You will have a busy year 😉 But it is always good to have a lot to do (I love it!). Your house looks beautifull and I also love the desk you are going to paint. I wish you a lot of fun with everything!
First of all, let me just say that your house is so cute! Everything you have planned sounds wonderful… Of course all those faces look so sweet too, and your time spent with them will be your greatest reward. Have a wonderful year…
I am loving your house and your porch. You have our grandparents dining room and great aunt Phyllis’s staircase and the tub of my dreams. (I do have out in the yard – hill billy hot tub.) I can’t wait to see the desk project. Of course I love kitties. And handsome men. You will see that I can relate to the pile of magazines! I keep going back to stare at the roof on your house. Want to guess what one of our projects is this year? (Actually more than one roof…)
You have a lot of work and goals ahead of you this year and they are going to be amazing. Getting the tub moved from the dining room is a biggie! lol And a wedding? How exciting! Can’t wait to see the bathroom makeover. Have a great day!
Hi Jennifer! Thanks so much for stopping my my blog. Your cottage is beautiful! Though my farmhouse is 100 years old, I’ve been told that tax records weren’t kept until the early 1900s, so chances are it’s been around since the late 1800s, just like yours. 🙂
I love your house. We have brick (which is nice) but doesn’t have the country charm I crave. I browsed you blog and I’m a fan! I would love to have you pop over to mine (I’m new at this) But having a wonderful time. Nice to meet you Jennifer 🙂 Sherry’s Bees Nest
I could steal a few to dos off your list. We painted exterior two years ago and the interior is in need of a makeover. Your home is lovely. I love your color. You must be having a blast with your daughter’s wedding plans. I sure hope we’ll see it here!
Hi Jennifer! Thank you for following my blog! You have a great list of things to do this year. I can’t wait to see the results. That baby has the most beautiful eyes. I bet she’s a lot of fun. Have a great weekend!
Very worthwhile goals, Jennifer…especially those involving loved ones. As far as all that painting in your future, I’m glad it’s you and not me. I DO NOT like to paint. 😉
I’m so glad you’re a partyer at Time Travel Thursday.
Hey that is quite a to do list. Love all the pictures.
I would spend as much time with the handsome fellows( and princess) and forget about everything else !!! Have fun.
