Summer Fresh Table Setting with Napkin Folding Tutorial

Even though summer is a busy season, I do love summer dinner parties. Whether it’s here in my home, at a friend’s house, or even at a local restaurant … there’s just something about gathering with friends and family to break bread and enjoy a little vino. Today is the second Wednesday of the month which means I’m joining my tablescape friends to bring you a variety of table settings with “It’s All Set.” Today’s summer fresh table setting includes a napkin-folding tutorial at the end of the post … and be sure to visit my friend’s links at the end, too.

Summer Table Setting in White and Aqua

White and aqua set the theme for today’s tablescape, along with fresh flowers from my garden. White snapdragons fill each bowl and creamy zinnias are tucked inside vintage bottles from my collection.

Each place setting includes a pyramid napkin over the fork.

I’ve always loved the art of napkin folding; I think it adds a special touch at the table.

White Mis-Matched Dishes

I have lots of white dishes, and mixed them up to create interesting texture. I really need to get rid of some of my dishes as we’re running out of room to store them all. I love white on white and chose white snapdragons to add a bit of softness against the cool porcelain.

Summer Table Setting in Farmhouse Dining Room

Summer breezes float through the window screen to freshen the indoors. I’m not a fan of air conditioning and leave my windows open for as long as possible. I only turn the air on when it’s really hot and humid. I’ve always been a summer kind of girl.

My white hydrangea bush is overgrown and spilling over with white, fluffy blooms. I always bring hydrangeas indoors during the summer. I think they help create a summer fresh table setting.

We recently enjoyed a family spaghetti dinner with pasta piled inside these white bowls. I also served a fresh salad with my grandmother’s vinaigrette salad dressing that everyone loves.

To create your own pyramid napkins, follow this easy tutorial:

Pyramid Napkin Folding Tutorial

1 – Start with a square napkin.

2 – Fold over into a triangle, matching corners and sides.

3 – With folded end at bottom, lift lower right corner up and fold over to meet top corner.

4 – Repeat and lift lower left corner to top corner so you have a square.

5 – Flip the folded napkin over so folded edges are toward the top.

6 – Fold top corner down to meet bottom corner

Prop your napkin up into a pyramid. You can place it over silverware, or directly onto your plate. I mixed napkin fabrics for my summer fresh table setting, just to add a bit of fun and whimsy.
