When I think of summer I think of time spent outdoors and summer fresh food like fruits, vegetables and a plethora of summer salads. When I’m not outside, I’m spending summer days in the kitchen canning tomatoes, making potato salad, cutting up watermelon, and more. I like to keep my kitchen bright and airy through the warmer months of the year.
My Summer Inspiration Decor always involves bringing flowers from the garden into my farmhouse.
I know I was talking about fruits and vegetables earlier, but I always have a soft spot for a pretty cupcake and a cool glass of iced coffee.
There’s a new cupcake and dessert bakery not too far from where I live called The Sugar Path. Their confections are always picture perfect and taste so yummy too! I’m so glad they opened up shop.
A Lady Jane cupcake is on the left while Blackberry Syrah is on the right. They’re both fabulous!
And this one … is a S’mores Cupcake that’s amazingly tasty and almost too perfect to eat!
More pink hydrangeas provide Summer Inspiration Decor on the farmhouse table.
I found a French enamel pot to hold one of these beautiful summer flowers.
Would you like to pull up a chair and join me for a pretty cupcake and glass of iced coffee in my farmhouse kitchen with its summer inspiration decor?

When you live in an older home, you often struggle with decorating for modern living. A hundred years or more ago, houses were designed for a different lifestyle. Soft hues can be especially pretty for the holidays, and this pastel Christmas kitchen is proof positive of that. When I was a kid, we always had a live, flocked tree that towered above me to the top of our living room’s vaulted ceiling. My mother trimmed the tree with pink and aqua beaded ornaments…
When it comes to windows, I like to keep adornments simple and sweet. I’ve never been one for layered drapery panels or lots of fuss at the window. I’m a huge fan of natural light and prefer to let as much sun shine into my rooms as possible. I always wonder why some people keep…
Are you ready for a pretty surprise today? Today I’m featuring the allure of a red kitchen by Sheila Mayden Interiors. I don’t recall seeing many red kitchens, but this one in a Queen Anne Victorian home is beautifully done in a traditional and functional style. Plus it has wallpaper! Changing vignettes from season to season is something I’ve done for many years. Normally I’ll invest in new pillows or knick knacks but this year I’m rebelling against that approach and using things I already have to create earthy vignettes for summer – my favorite season! Today I’m joining another group of bloggers to…
