You’ll Love These 13 Cozy and Snowy Cottages
We head to Galena this week to enjoy our annual family Christmas together, but I don’t think we’re going to be blessed with snow. For me, it always feels a bit more festive when snow is on the ground for the holidays. To get myself in the spirit, I’ll enjoy today’s collection of 13 cozy and snowy cottages. There’s quite a variety so take a look and let me know which one you like best!
Let’s start with a Swedish, red country cottage blanketed in snow. A star in the window and green shutters framing the front door say “Christmas” in a quaint way.
Snowy cottages always look warm and inviting when the lights are on inside. This charmer enjoys a few holiday touches on the exterior.
Doesn’t this look like the perfect English home? A gate with lighted stone pillars welcome you on the way to the red front door with a simple wreath. The stone house looks peaceful and surreal in the snow.
A cozy brown house in the snow proudly displays a light blue door wearing an unadorned wreath. I love the unique stonework of the chimney.
This cozy brick home proves that you can achieve interest in a winter garden by not cutting back all the plantings. I always leave some of my plants untrimmed, especially those that provide seeds for birds. Did you notice the little wishing well off to the right?
New-fallen snow always looks so pretty when it’s fresh and clean. Tudor-style homes are quaint and charming and this one makes the most of curb appeal with a pretty blue door.
Icicles hang from the upper roof line on a pretty brick bungalow in the Chicago suburbs. Snowy cottages get a bit of sparkle in the sunlight when the sun’s rays hit the ice.
Wouldn’t it be wonderful to spend a weekend at a cabin in the woods during winter? I’d love to take a book or stack of magazines and enjoy the quiet. No television. Just a slow, simple weekend.
Look how cute this little green bungalow looks in the snow! I’ve always loved this style of home and there are plenty of them throughout the Chicagoland area.
Perhaps the most appealing snowy cottages are those found in the countryside of England. I’m sure we’ve all fantasized about a Christmas trip to stay in the little stone cottage featured in the Holiday movie.
Here’s another red house blanketed in snow for the holiday. A bit newer than the rest of the snowy cottages, it still has a lot of curb appeal. Look carefully and you’ll notice the windows are two-toned, with just the palest of blue on the inner trim.
This charmer is just a few towns away from me. I love the shade of green that the homeowner used for the shutters.
As the sun begins to set, a charming home in winter feels all the cozier!
I don’t know why it’s fun to look at charming homes, but it just is. Did you have a favorite from today’s collection of snowy cottages?
These are all so pretty so it is a tough decision!
I think my favorites are the white Tudor style cottages and the English stone cottage. So fun to look at- thanks!
These are all so beautiful. Any you are correct, the lights on inside do make a difference. I will be turning on inside lights during any future snowstorms!
I love the red one with the star in the window. The stone house was very charming and had a cosiness to it. Thank you for finding these wonderful homes that have so much character.
These cottages remind me of the romantized peace of Christmas time, blanked in pure white snow. How beautiful they all are. My personal favorite is the 1st red cottage, partially because it’s Christmas red.❤🌲
Love these cottages. I have no interest in 3to 5 thousand feet “homes”. I find no cozy or comfort in them.
It is so hot and humid here that a weekend in any of them would be most welcome. I can’t pick a favourite. Thanks for the lovely post Jennifer.
There were several that I loved! I learned from my new mother in law to drive around and look at houses in 1969, when I was 23 and newly married! My parents never did that. One of my daughters likes to do that and now my grown 27 yr old granddaughter too! We love looking at charming houses. And actually my daughter lives in one now in Aurora, Illinois (which you featured once). My MIL used to drive us all the way up to Lake Erie (a 35-40 minutes drive from Akron, Ohio) to see the huge old houses looking out on the Lake and we would imagine ourselves living in one of them.
It’s so peaceful sitting here looking at these lovely homes with my first cup of coffee for the day.
Thanks
I really enjoyed this tour and loved looking at all these cozy cottages in the snow. You always have the best posts to look at when I take a break from whatever I’m doing.
Beautiful homes from the bungalow to the tudors, and oh the red Swedish home and the English stone home! So beautiful. I so want a white Christmas but not getting my hopes up lol. Enjoy your holiday getaway, have a very Merry Christmas!
