Charming Home Tour ~ Tybee Tides
The rain is falling softly and I’m sitting on my porch swing as I write about today’s charming home tour, which I’m super excited about by the way! You get to tour an adorable, vintage cottage on Tybee Island in Georgia. I’ve known about the collection of rental properties at Mermaid Cottages and finally reached out to them asking if I could showcase a few. There are so many pretty beach cottages it was hard to choose which one to feature first, but I finally chose Tybee Tides and will share a few others over the summer months. (Cottage photos courtesy of Mermaid Cottages.)
Adorable, right? Built around 1930 as a fishing shack, this charming home (which you can rent for your vacation) has a wide, full porch that’s perfect for catching southern breezes!
The screened porch is the perfect place to enjoy casual conversation while drinking a refreshing glass of iced tea or lemonade.
At the opposite end of the porch is a small dining room with great views all around. I’ve visited Tybee Island a few times while vacationing at Hilton Head Island. I’m head over heels in love with the low country area of the southeast. There’s something so romantic and intoxicating about it.
Step inside and be charmed by vintage cottage surroundings. I love the soft colors in this cottage, paired with the white walls and warm wood tones of the floor. And did you notice the light fixtures on the post? So cute! I’ll try not to overuse the word “cute” in this post but seriously … this cottage is so stinkin’ cute!
Another view of the living room with its gorgeous green hutch.
And the kitchen!! If you read my blog regularly you know I love white kitchens (and contrary to popular opinion, they really aren’t that hard to keep clean). I love the vaulted ceiling in here with the double window over the kitchen sink. A handy breakfast bar is perfect for grabbing a quick lunch before running off to the beach for the afternoon.
This dining table is exactly what I’ve been looking for to put in my breakfast area!
I love its rustic appeal and the bench is equally charming!
The master bedroom at Tybee Tides is serene and pretty. One thing that really caught my eye about this cottage is the bead board and planked walls, along with the multi-paneled doors.
Painted and peeling shutters make a dramatic headboard.
Note how the bedding and pillows match the colors of the shutters.
The master bathroom continues with the home’s cottage charm, but is equipped with modern conveniences. I love the way the faucet is mounted to the wall and the light fixtures add a unique touch.
Another bedroom packs a punch with bright color. I wonder if the vintage Tybee Island poster on the wall was the inspiration for the color scheme of this room.
A third bedroom is also filled with bright color, with a glimpse of the chandelier overhead. The only bad part of this cottage is having to say goodbye to it when your vacation is over.
You’ll find more fun color in the second bathroom. Did you notice the glass doorknob?
After a busy day at the beach, you can enjoy the breathtaking view of the sun setting over the marsh.
I’ve yet to stay at Tybee Island … but fell in love with it when vacationing at Hilton Head. We drove around the island and I was oohing and aahing at every turn of the road. I told myself someday I’d go back and spend a week at one of the cottages … so it’s on my bucket list. You can see more of Tybee Tides or any of the Mermaid Cottages on their website and even check for availability if you want to vacation there!

And stop by later tonight when I join a group of bloggers for a collection of no-sew projects!
Jennifer,
So cute. I have seen other post about Tybee Island and I think I am going to put this on my bucket list for a future visit.
All the cottages look so charming. Happy Mother’s Day.

We visited there a few years ago. It is sooooo beautiful. We were staying at Hilton Head too. Love that part of the country! We HAVE to go back one day but it is a looooong way from our home. Thanks for the gorgeous tour. Give me ideas for my little “mountain home.”
Ahoy, Jennifer!

I LOVE this cottage!! It’s a perfect beach cottage with the blue-green paint and white shutters. Does anyone know what the paint color is?
