The past few weeks I’ve been a bit frustrated. I haven’t been able to find the Christmas decor I want when shopping at local stores. First and foremost on my list are boxwood wreaths. Nobody’s got ’em. And I don’t want big, honkin’ ones either. They need to be sweet and petite to fit my built-in kitchen hutch. This weekend was the monthly flea market and although I didn’t find boxwood wreaths, I did find some boxwood … a bunch for six bucks.
So I made my own wreaths with the boxwood branches.
I was inspired by the simple boxwood wreath I saw over at
Just So Lovely.
I used green craft wire to shape 2 small wreath frames.
Then I snipped off long stems from the branches and weaved them around the frames.
As needed, I used thin floral wire to secure the boxwood clipping to the frame.
I didn’t want the greenery to be too heavy. I just wanted simple wreaths.
Three wreaths for 3 doors. I used creamy grosgrain ribbon to hang them.
The ribbon is secured on the back of each cabinet door with a small finishing nail.
I added a little pine tree to this corner of the kitchen,
along with an ironstone pitcher stuffed with leftover boxwood.
The pine tree came wrapped in typical grocery store red foil.
I replaced it with some old flour sack material and red grosgrain ribbon.
A couple of red toile hat boxes add a little more Christmas red.
I found the hat boxes on sale for half price. The smaller one was $6.
But the true stars of this vignette are the boxwood wreaths.
1. Because I made them myself.
2. Because I only paid $6 for three wreaths.
2. Because I almost had to do without them!
And this is how I’m keeping my vow to simplify Christmas this year.
Using stuff I already have on hand, along with some fresh greens.
really lovely! thanks for the idea.

Now…you are one smart cookie to make your own. They look wonderful on that cabinet. Hope I see them at my thrifty party:)
Blessings,
Linda
You are truly the smartest one! I love your sweet little wreaths and they look wonderful on your cabinet. The little added Christmas greenery looks so beautiful.
be a sweetie,
Shelia 😉
I love those and they are better than what you can buy. Nice and simple. Love the touches of red, too with the toile. Thanks for joining.
Very sweet, humble and perfect! Much nicer than what you can buy!
The boxwood in my gardens turns bronze color in the cold months so I cannot use it for Christmas…which was why I really planted it in the first place!
May I ask where you found the boxwood stems?
I have heard that Trader Joe’s has boxwood wreaths for $9.99! Such a deal!

You did a wonderful job making your own wreaths! They look so pretty! The fresh ones you made look even better than the preserved ones.
These are adorable wreaths and they look so lovely on your old cupboard doors. I love the green tree on the stool too. Simple and sweet.
Just Beautiful! I love the simplicity. 🙂
Jennifer,
What a beautiful look! Every detail is perfect. Still loving the floors and cabinets too…
your wreaths turned out great, I’ve been looking everywhere for these and a bigger one. Lowe’s says they have them, but they really don’t. bummer…yes, frustration. love them on your cupboard doors!! great job!

Those are just adorable, I wish I had some boxwood’s. Great pop with the red ribbon.
Beautiful. I love that they are not heavy. Great idea!
Very pretty. 🙂
Your kitchen looks so pretty. I love them. I pinned them. 🙂
Hi Jennifer,
Those little wreaths are just perfect! I purchased a boxwood wreath from Trader Joes, but is large and it’s getting dried out quickly with this warm weather! Have a wonderful holiday season.

So pretty. You might have shopped forever and never found wreaths that fit your space so nicely. I’m inspired to make some as well!
That corner of your kitchen is so fresh and pretty. Adorable little boxwood wreaths!

So perfectly sweet and simple!!!
The added greenery is the perfect accent to your fabulous built in cupboard!
Very nice! I love what you created and they look perfect against your white cabinet. I picked up some from The Country Door catalog a few years ago. I keep storing them and they look fine each year. I used a pair on my Santo’s Cage Doll this year. Looks like you accomplished just what you wanted and that’s a good thing!
Boxwoods are one of my favorites I have them all over our yard. I love these wreaths and I love the touch on the toile red boxes.

Love, love, love! So simple and sweet. 🙂
I love the wreaths and your hutch, but how did I never notice that fabulous floor before? I love that green, especially with all of your wonderful whites. Enchanting!
I really love your simple boxwood wreaths, so pretty and elegant. The simplicity is part of their charm.
Love your wreaths, Jennifer! And photos, especially the last three!
Oh Jennifer, you made me laugh when you said you didn’t want big “honkin'” wreaths! I know exactly what you mean ~ why is it so hard to find small wreaths? I love how yours turned out and how you hung them with the pretty ribbon. We have some boxwood in our front yard and last year I made one small wreath so now I feel inspired to make some more. Love your little tree and hat boxes too!
I love the simple elegance of these boxwood wreathes. Your decor is beautiful!
