13 Wonderful Snow-Kissed Christmas Homes in Old Wheaton
Fresh snow has a magical way of transforming neighborhoods into a real-life Christmas postcard. Charming homes become even more enchanting as wreaths dress up front doors, and evergreens are wrapped beneath snowy blankets. I was in Wheaton, Illinois this week and couldn’t leave without capturing some of the beautiful Christmas homes. Not all are decorated, but they still look spectacular due to the winter wonderland.
First up, a bold teal exterior stands out beautifully against the winter landscape, while garland-wrapped porch railings and a welcoming wreath create a picture-perfect holiday greeting. This time of year is when colorful homes look their best.

A stately brick Georgian looks especially elegant under a blanket of fresh snow, its classic symmetry highlighted by crisp white trim. A simple wreath on the dark front door adds the perfect touch of understated Christmas charm.

Cheerful mustard siding glows warmly in the soft winter light, complemented by playful clusters of bright green porch trees (I think they’re painted wood) in red pots. Snow-dusted eaves and a delicate row of hanging stars make the home feel festive and full of personality.

Crisp white siding and clean black accents give this modern farmhouse a serene winter presence. Dual wreaths on the navy double doors add a striking pop of holiday color against the snowy backdrop.

Here’s a close[up of the twin wreaths adorned with red berries, bringing bold seasonal cheer to deep blue double doors. A pair of glowing porch lights and soft surrounding snow create a welcoming, picture-perfect entryway.

A spacious wraparound porch gives this Craftsman its inviting charm, especially when framed by snowy urn planters filled with winter greens. Warm natural wood tones glow beautifully against the bright blanket of snow. What a stunning home – especially if you like craftsman style.

Next up in the collection of Christmas homes is a charming Victorian with a prominent turret, scrollwork trim, and gingerbread details adding storybook character. Soft snow creates a Dickens vibe and highlights the home’s architectural beauty while making the deep green door feel even more welcoming.

The deep green color of ornate doors is perfect for the season and features decorative glass panels, adding vintage charm to this historic home. The intricate trimwork in shades of pink and green enhances its whimsical holiday personality.

Glistening icicles fringe the roofline of this Victorian, creating a dramatic winter display worthy of a Christmas postcard. The wraparound porch, complete with scalloped trim and cozy corners, enhances its nostalgic charm. And if you look closely, you’ll see a small dove perched on the peak of the roof. I can’t tell if it’s real or part of the home’s ornamentation.

Sweeping porches and upper balconies draped in lush green garland make this grand Colonial look straight out of a holiday movie set. Snow-topped dormers and graceful columns add to its timeless elegance. Wheaton is a great collection of Christmas homes – there’s a good variety of styles from one street to the next.

Rich brick and stone accents give this historic home a grounded, Old World presence against the snowy landscape. Bare winter branches frame the structure like artwork, drawing attention to its tall chimney and classic symmetry. I love the way rustic stones frame the arched doorway.

This vibrant Queen Anne Victorian is a blast of colors against the white snow. Ornate trim, and dramatic icicles cascade from the roofline – the exterior is not for the faint of heart! Festive touches, like the cheerful Santa by the porch, add whimsical Christmas spirit to its already enchanting façade.

From the side, the home’s intricate detailing and bold palette are even more striking, showcasing its elegant rooflines and decorative woodwork. A simple picket fence and snowy yard complete the storybook charm.

Soft winter light enhances the charm of the next home – a white brick cottage, where crisp architectural lines contrast next to the snowy landscape. A dark front door and simple greenery create a timeless, welcoming holiday touch.

Wheaton is a charming suburb of Chicago and is also home to the Billy Graham Center and Wheaton College, where both my parents attended. If you ever get a chance to visit, you won’t be disappointed. The downtown has several quaint stores and tasty restaurants.
This is half of the Christmas homes I photographed after the snow. I’ll share more next week!
