A Remarkable Designer Embraces an Earthy, Organic Decorating Approach
Today I’m doing something a little different. Rather than talk about specific home decor or feature a home tour, I’m going to introduce you to the earthy, organic decorating approach of a remarkable designer – Anna Nicholson of Anna Nicholson Design. She’s the first of several interior designers that I’ll highlight on occasion here at Town and Country Living. I hope you like today’s feature as you learn a bit about what goes into a designer’s mind when recreating living spaces.
Aniko Nicholson Design, nestled in the scenic landscape of Simcoe County, Ontario, is renowned for its ability to transform spaces into personal narratives. Led by founder and principal designer Aniko Nicholson, the studio specializes in blending vintage charm with modern functionality, creating interiors that are both aesthetically pleasing and deeply reflective of each client’s unique story.
This kitchen is evident of her signature style with cafe curtains at the window and a reclaimed barn beam above the stove alcove. The walls are painted Dune White by Benjamin Moore.

Aniko’s design philosophy centers on the belief that a home should be more than just a place to liveโit should be a canvas where life’s stories are painted. Her approach involves integrating unique vintage pieces and antiques into each project, ensuring that every space not only radiates charm but also captures the essence of the homeowner’s personal memories and experiences. This commitment to storytelling sets a new standard in home interior design, blending aspirational elegance with accessible charm.
You’ll notice an earthy, organic approach to Aniko’s signature style. Neutral tones paired with a variety of textures create warm and inviting living spaces that immediately feel like home.ย

A master bedroom reveals the same, signature style as the guest bedroom above. Beds are layered with solid, neutral sheets, spreads, and blankets while wall treatments are kept soft and simple. A fiddle leaf fig adds a touch of nature to the organic decorating philosophy.
A reading chair is tucked into one corner of the bedroom, next to vintage wooden sliding doors that lead to the master bathroom.ย

I’m obsessed with the light fixture in this stunning bathroom that features the same neutral tones and warm woods. Did you notice how the interior of the window frames are natural wood but the forward facing trim is painted white? It’s these types of details that make a room even more interesting.ย
Aniko chose to line one wall in this lovely bathroom with painted planks. It’s a great way to add some texture without having to wrap the whole room. Metal framed mirrors pair with the gray-wood double vanity for a clean look.
What a beautiful glass-front cabinet in a powder room. I love the hardware on this piece and the softness of the wallpaper that provides just the right amount of interest. A large, dried hydrangea bloom emphasizes the organic decorating style that makes all of Aniko’s projects so endearing.ย
I hope you enjoyed this first designer feature showing an earthy, organic decorating approach to interiors. I plan to showcase more decorators and architects in the future. Explore more of Aniko Nicholson’s handiwork.

Her “bone structure” in design is so well done that I can imagine almost any type of decor being used in this home. I really enjoyed these spaces and appreciate you sharing her work.
just perfect
