Kids are returning back to school this month and I see lots of moms at the stores stocking up on school supplies. There’s always a bit of chaos when schedules change from the lazy days of summer to the focused days of Fall. Seems like when the weather gets cooler it’s easier to get back into our “nesting” instinct. To inspire you with your decor, I have the honor of sharing the very charming home of Sarah over at Life on Virginia Street.
You’ll find calming grays and neutrals throughout Sarah’s pretty home.
I love her placement of the big clock in the stairway.
Sarah’s front hall is dramatic and appealing with its rich wood floors.
Pillows and flowers add a touch of color.
A beautiful stone fireplace takes center stage in the living room.
Pillows and throws lend softness to this bright and cheery room.
Lots of windows let in plenty of natural light.
Sunshine streaming through the windows is always a great mood lifter.
Sarah’s been working on her dining room and recently added the unique light fixture.
Although Sarah’s kitchen is beyond pretty, she’s making some improvements in this room, too.
You’ll find her blog to be full of inspirational DIY projects throughout her home.
How gorgeous is Sarah’s home office? Omigoodness, I fell in love with those doors the moment I laid eyes on them! And the light fixture above the desk … Love!!
Soft blues and white create a restful and relaxing master bedroom.
Sarah includes soft touches throughout her home, like the tufted bench and ample pillows in one of the guest bedrooms.
Striped walls liven up a guest bedroom, and Sarah shares the tutorial on how to get the look.
A comfy patio provides additional dining and entertaining space.
Do you shop flea markets? If you do, have you ever been to one where nothing jumped off the shelf and screamed “Take me home!” And so you leave empty-handed and disappointed, like a kid at Christmas who didn’t get that Red Ryder BB Gun. Our flea market rolls into town once a month and…
For many years I’ve been in love with country style decorating … whether it’s modern country, farmhouse country, eclectic or shabby. Country style decorating conjures images of days gone by that were more organic. Making foods from scratch and using everyday items for decorating the home. I think the soul of country style is what…
Summer is more than half over and while I love fall, I will mourn the loss of long sunny days. But for now, I’ll enjoy the colorful flowers from my garden. My ever-expanding collection of vintage aqua bottles proudly display cheery Zinnias from the garden. Altogether it makes my summer mantel. I thought I had collected…
You’ll find plenty of historic homes in the northeast, but today we’re looking at a newer build by Martha’s Vineyard Interior Design. This Martha’s Vineyard dream home is open and spacious with wood, stone, and painted woodwork. If you’re a fan of a neutral palette, you’ll enjoy the serene beauty of this island home. Pendant…
First, let me wish all of you a Happy New Year! I’m hoping 2016 is better than 2015 … it was a rough year for our family. But more on that later. As you probably know, many bloggers share their top posts for the year. It’s a great way to look back and see what…
Spring weather beckons all us Midwesterners to come outside and shake off the cabin fever, which is exactly what hubby and I did today. When I got home from work we went for a walk and it was soooooo nice to see the buds on the trees and the first robins of the season! It’s…
