Charming Retreats: The Timeless Elegance of English Country Bedrooms

Have you noticed an increased trend in English style decorating this year? Whether you’re scrolling through Pinterest or Instagram, you’ll see rooms that are both elegant and comfortable. Cozy seating is a must, along with florals and muted colors. Today we’re looking at the timeless elegance of this style with a collection of English country bedrooms.

This first room is the perfect example of muted colors. A soft green headboard and a patterned rug add a touch of color to the otherwise rustic space with stone walls and a beamed ceiling. Extra storage is created with vintage trunks at the foot of the bed. One of the things I love most about English style is the fact that most of the homes are quite a bit older. You just don’t get that here in the States.

Soft florals are a trademark of English country bedrooms, along with exposed wood and real flowers. This feminine bedroom is light and airy with just the right touch of color throughout.

Cozy up in a glamorous, curtained four-poster bed with more than enough pillows to keep you comfy. Add crisp linen sheets to the bedding and you’re all set for a wonderfully peaceful night’s sleep.

Wide-plank wood floors lend richness and warmth to English style bedrooms. Old mirrors add to the vintage vibe of this space.

A surprisingly brighter look is found in this charming bedroom with the unexpected colors of orange and white. This might be too bold for some people, but it’s a more modern and fresh take on traditional English styling.

Here’s a bedroom that looks straight out of Downton Abbey. The mix of neutral-toned patterns work. If you’re a little timid in combining different patterns, choose them in similar, soft shades.

Soft green is a great choice for a soothing bedroom, especially one like this with a soaring ceiling. Floating shelves next to the bed serve as nightstands.

A small bedroom is cozy and sweet and isn’t afraid to include several pieces of furniture. Mismatched dressers line the wall with a soft accent chair near the window. The bed looks plush and loft like a cloud. It makes you want to crawl right in for a night of comfort.

Do you have a favorite from today’s collection of English style bedrooms? I think the last one is my favorite due to its simplicity and charm, although they’re all charming!

  1. Jennifer, I love them all. ..I have a love for all that is English Country style. It’s always welcoming and yet elegant, or verging on elegant.. And that includes, the lovely cottage type windows that bring in fresh morning air,..the soft colors, and the also lovely floral patterns, the flowers.. I can almost smell the roses, and English breakfast tea brewing.

  2. While they are all beautiful. I am leaning towards two and six as my favorites out of this grouping. Love the colors and floral patterns in both.

  3. I like the last one as well. I’d love to see how they have the 2 chest of drawers working in the room as they are side by side at the end of the bed area. Interesting. That soft gray and white chair is so pretty.
I never get my pillows just right and seeing how all of these beds are made helps me to realize there isn’t just one way to get a good look with them. I’m always buying more..Euro..textured throw pillows and even floral mixed with solid pillow case patterns…ugh…a King bed requires a bit more base regular pillows and that always throws me for a loop:0)

  4. My favorite was the 4th one. I love those deep windows and patterns they all have, pale and beautiful. I don’t really care for bright colors in my bedroom.

  5. All the bedrooms were lovely.
The last one was really sweet but quite staged and impractical.
How would you open the dresser drawers with the chair against them? Etc. 🤔
