Getting My Farmhouse Bedroom Ready for Summer

bedroom decorating ideas, home decor June 13, 2014

Before I start sharing my farmhouse bedroom … I want to express my sincere thanks to everyone who left comforting words on my post about my aging parents. I was truly touched and for those who also have ailing parents … you are in my prayers as well. One of the beautiful aspects of blogging is the supportive community you’ll find. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

And now onto the task at hand. The past couple weeks I’ve been sprucing my home for summer, in particular, adding color to my rooms. After de-cluttering the bedroom and taking photos of it, I realized it was looking a little sparse.

Summer-Decorating-in-Farmhouse-BedroomI tried adding some new pillows on the bed … but that isn’t quite enough.

Decorating a Farmhouse Bedroom for SummerAnd I’m not sure I like the Sweet Dreams sign anymore. It needs to be different somehow.

Under the Eaves Farmhouse BedroomI do like the little white dresser in the corner and I like the cozy under-the-eaves feeling.

So I ordered this …

Laura Ashley Quilt Set… a Laura Ashley quilt set that was on sale at Joss and Main for about a third of the cost!

It will give the room an instant shot of color.

Maura Bed Skirt for Farmhouse BedroomWhile I was at it, I also ordered this bed skirt which was on sale for about a fifth of the original price.

I like to change things up in my house but I don’t like to spend a lot of money doing it.

Under the Eaves Farmhouse BedroomSo stay tuned as I have more ideas for adding color to this monochromatic farmhouse bedroom!

I’m anxious to get the changes implemented so hopefully it won’t take long.

Next week, I’m joining a group of bloggers for a week long, virtual tour of our homes dressed for summer! I’m featuring my summer tour on Monday and I’ve still got some work to do this weekend before I’m ready to share it. Hope you’ll stop back to take a look!

I love that quilt and bed skirt. They will definitely add some color, and look great! Can’t wait to see it when you have it all together.

This bedroom is so pretty now and I know the pop of colour will perk it up too. The quilt, shams and bedskirt are very pretty. I can’t wait to see your summer home tour next week. Have a great weekend and fun preparing. Pam

I love the room already, but the new quilt is going to be so beautiful! Have you also thought about painting your dresser and night stand colors that coordinate with the new bedspread? Maybe a nice green, yellow, or red? That would pop out against the nice pale blue of the walls. Can’t wait to see what you decide, as everything you do is always so lovely. Your home is one of my favorites in blog- land. I come here often to get ideas for my own home!

I love it. Thinking about doing my bedroom in these colors. My walls are a light blue gray so I think I could pull this off. Thanks for sharing.

As soon as I saw the Laura Ashley quilt, it was like a flower blooming in the room.

I love this bedroom too, just as it is. I do adore the Laura Ashley comforter…it will make the room gorgeous. And on a serious note, I hope your Dad gets better soon, and I ache for you about your Mom. I only have a Mom left and in July she will be 103!! My husband and I live in her home and care for her. She does quite well, but the memory is going of course. It isn’t easy ever. Best wishes to you.
