Create the Ultimate Indoor Porch for Comfort and Style
Outdoor porches are a true treasure during warm summer months, but not everyone likes the presence of bugs. Perhaps the best scenario is to create the ultimate indoor porch where you can still throw open the windows but keep the pests at bay with screens. See today’s collection and get ideas for creating a cozy stylish indoor porch – whether it’s screened or glassed in.
Blue and white is a serene and peaceful palette that creates a cool and fresh environment. Wicker furniture pairs with upholstered pieces for a casual vibe. The abundance of windows allows for great cross-ventilation in the room surrounded by shady trees.

Dine outside without the interference of bugs when you add a table and chairs to a screened porch. You’ll still hear the song of birds and feel the summer breezes on your skin as you enjoy your favorite meal.
A smaller indoor porch features more expensive wicker furniture paired with a built-in window seat. The shade of surrounding trees keeps this space cool on hot days and the large windows makes you feel like you’re outside. I love the drama of the dark-painted trim.
Brick flooring is reminiscent of a patio in this sunroom with white beadboard and wooden ceiling beams. Plants help bring the outdoors in.

A red, white, and blue color scheme is a patriotic nod to 4th of July and the summer season. A sisal rug stands up to weather elements on this cozy screened porch.
A large indoor porch features bamboo shades at the windows beneath the impressive vaulted ceiling. Soft terra cotta cushions mimic the color of the brick floor and create warmth. Furniture is arranged to encourage socializing and conversation.
Vintage white wicker creates a nostalgic vibe in a historic home’s porch surrounded by French doors and windows. A pale gray floor is a classic touch for a space worthy of grandma.
If you have a large indoor porch or sunroom, tuck a small dinette in one corner so you can enjoy al fresco dining without the nuisance of bugs battling for your food.
I hope you’re enjoying the summer season to its fullest. Our backyard deck by the pond is shaded in the morning, but we can retreat to the front porch or the shade garden in the afternoon to stay cool outdoors. What spots in your yard do you enjoy during July?
About a year ago we were blessed with a vintage Brown Jordan “Elegance” loveseat and end table. They perfectly matched an adorable, small, 2 chair wrought iron table set we had inherited from my parents. The original cushions for the BJ loveseat were damaged from smoke during the fire so our insurance company paid to have new cushions made. (It’s crazy how God can flip an accident or tragedy to become an unexpected blessing) With the necessary porch cleaning, repainting and the new custom cushions we have a “new” screened porch. I had really not noticed that we have dark metal trim that gives it a “pop” until you mentioned it in another post about porches awhile back. Your keen eye caused me to appreciate and accentuate that feature in my porch design plan. I just wanted to remind you that I’m always learning something from you and I know that I speak for many! Thanks.
They are all beautiful. Wish I had a porch of any kind!
Hi Jennifer,
I love them all! A connection to the outdoors in any way is a plus.
Beautiful. Thank you from Vancouver BC Canada
Love outdoor porches and enjoy getting inspiration for mine, thanks and have fun out by your pond.
I have always wanted to add a screened in porch to our house. We had one on our house when I was a child and I spent many a hot summer day reading and day dreaming on the daybed there.
I very much doubt a porch will become a reality now that I am in my 70s but I love to view the lovely ones you show me on your blog. Thankyou.
I’ve always wanted a screened in porch, but never been able to have one. I enjoyed looking at all the porches you shared with us today. Would love to sit in any of them and have a meal or read a book.
