Creative Christmas Dining Ideas

Christmas, table setting November 25, 2020

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving and you might be more focused on a thankful tablescape. But Christmas will be here soon so as long as you’re in the entertaining mood, why not noodle a few creative Christmas dining ideas?

Christmas Dining Ideas with Greens and Berries

Keep it simple like the table above with a bough of greens for a table runner and a sprig of greens with berries and a pine cone to add color to each place setting.

Or if you prefer a more elegant ambiance, add bows to chairs and gold trimmed goblets.

Smaller dinner parties can utilize a kitchen table for a casual get-together. Add lots of sparkle in the kitchen with greens and stars suspended from the light fixture.

Natural linens are wonderful to use for Christmas dining. I have a set of linen napkins and tablecloth that I only use for special occasions.

I’ve always been a fan of creatively folded dinner napkins and I love the soft simplicity of this one. Note that it’s off-center, too.

Of course, anytime you can include a Christmas tree into your Christmas dining experience – it’s all the better.

Consider indulging in a set of Christmas-themed dinnerware, like deer plates and red or green placemats and napkins. Gold flatware adds a festive touch too. On a budget? Shop for these items when they’re deeply discounted after Christmas is over. When I was newly married, I always bought Christmas decorations and ornaments after the holiday.

If you’re hosting a smaller intimate gathering, keep it elegant with cloth napkins and tablecloth, along with crystal stemware.

Finally – I had to include this darling snowman place setting as a creative Christmas dining option for the kids’ table! This would also be fun for Christmas breakfast. Paper napkins work as the snowman’s scarf and hat, with a knife used for the brim. So cute!!

Enjoy your Thanksgiving Day – whether you’re dining with family or quarantining. It’ll be just hubby and me for the day and I’m actually looking forward to the peace and simplicity of the day!
