Discover Blue Kitchens: Bold Color Is Trending in 2023
Do you ever do something fairly radical on a whim? I was so inspired by this kitchen photo that I ran out the next day to get Dutch Tile Blue paint for my kitchen. The purchase was entirely an impulse buy, and of course it helped that Sherwin Williams was offering a buy-one-get-one promo for their “perk” members. Hubby and I started painting the kitchen right away and I can’t wait to show it to you when it’s finished. In the meantime, I’ll share some pretty blue kitchens that I think you’ll enjoy.

This kitchen is so fresh and classy. The photo above and below are the same room from different angles. The extra long windows are spectacular and I particularly love this shade of blue.

Blue and natural wood look amazing together. Dark gray flooring pairs well with the blue cabinets. One reason I’ve kept my kitchen white is because I’ve been afraid to choose a color that pairs well with my green Mexican tile floor. But I felt like the Dutch Tile Blue I chose goes really well with the green.
Of all the photos in this post, this cabinet has the color closest to what I’m painting my kitchen now. The rich back splash makes me want to add it in my own home.

Black also looks great with blue, as evidenced in the eclectic kitchen below.

Don’t the brushed gold fixtures and hardware make this blue and white kitchen look classic and elegant? It’s amazing what finishing details can make in a room.
Of all of today’s blue kitchens, I think this one is my favorite because it has so many cabinets and a funky floor that I actually find endearing. And if you drop food on the floor, who’s going to notice?
Here’s another graphic floor to complement the beautiful kitchen. I love the sand colored subway tiles next to the blue cabinets.
Cute, wooden Scandinavian style stools cozy up to the large kitchen island. It’s so nice to see color trending this year. I’m fully embracing it and once we’re done painting the kitchen, the dining room is next.
The final example of today’s blue kitchens is this charmer that opens up to a beautiful family room. And did you notice the fun blue and white pendant lights? It’s always fun to see something different in interior spaces.

I’d love to know – which of these blue kitchens is your favorite?
I love all those blue kitchens! I am also very happy to see color everywhere in homes now.
And the great thing about paint is, you can always change your color schemes fairly inexpensively.
I’m not a “blue” person, but I thought these kitchens were lovely. Would be glad to cook in any of them!
I purchased some french blue paint this morning to paint a wood buffet. I have an antique table and hutch to warm the space but feel my white kitchen needs a little color. Your post is just the nudge I needed!
I loved the one with the red, blue and black floor. It was so pretty and the floor was just gorgeous, even though i am not sure I would enjoy it in my house, it is pretty..
Ooooooo… can’t wait to see the reveal!
You know I love the blue! In the Fall I painted our kitchen bead board back splash a light, airy sky blue. I might repaint it with a little darker grey French blue.
Hi Jennifer. I think I have said on your blog previously that I had the most divine blue kitchen in a house in the 1990s. I never grew tired of it, and it was a delight to walk into every morning. In this house, I opted for all white but I am seriously thinking of going back to blue in my next house, and there will be a next house. I have got to the point of needing to downsize. Really looking forward to seeing what you do with yours. The kitchen with all those cupboards wow, what a dream!.
I love that color too. Can’t wait to see your kitchen painted. I really miss seeing your house. I love the way you decorate.
Love the blues!! I look forward to seeing your kitchen! I’m sure it will be lovely with those wonderful green tiles. We put white cabinets in our kitchen when we redid it in 2019. I bought a blue paint back then to paint the island, but I still haven’t painted it. Our backsplash is a blue and white mosaic tile; I love it.
