DIY Rustic Flower Vase

Are you enjoying your summer? I sure hope so! Today I have a quick and easy home decor project for you that I think you’ll enjoy. It’s a DIY rustic flower vase that makes a cute centerpiece – perfect for a dinner party, a bridal shower, a wedding, or just every day use. Another bonus is that it doesn’t cost much to make. To make your DIY rustic flower vase, all you need is a glass cylinder vase, kindling wood, raffia ribbon or colored twine, a glue gun, and pretty flowers.

If needed, cut the wood kindling so it’s about one-half to one inch taller than the vase. Use an electric saw to speed the process. Then use your hot glue gun to attach the wood to the vase. There might be a little finessing to line up your kindling wood, since they’re not quite straight. It’s kind of fun though – like putting a puzzle together.

Keep gluing until your DIY rustic flower vase is completely wrapped with kindling wood. This project is very similar to my twig candle holders that I made a couple years ago.

Wrap three strands of colored raffia ribbon or twine around the vase and tie in a knot. Clip the ends so you have about 2 inches of loose raffia ribbon on either end of the knot.

Arrange flowers in your new vase. I used pink silk gerbera daisies and small creamy ranunculus.

You can of course use real flowers, too.
