Easter Signals the Hope and Joy of Spring

Daffodils are peaking through the dirt while small piles of snow still dot the landscape here in Illinois. I grow impatient for spring and warmer weather. Last year we were blessed with an unusually warm spring and I was hoping for the same this year, but no such luck. But since it’s Easter season I will attempt to remain patient. How can I complain about the weather when there are people in this world who are hungry, poor, and lonely? Instead, I’ll try to remain focused on the joy of Easter.

Easter Eggs and Aqua BottlesEaster. The symbol of new life. A time of hope and rebirth when the earth comes alive again.

Easter Eggs and Aqua BottlesI love bringing pastels in the home during the Easter season. These aqua bottles were found in a local junk pile.  My hubby and I frequent the junk pile from time to time. We think it’s the location of an old farmhouse that was torn down many years ago.

Shabby Paris PillowThe Paris pillow is a new find … not from our secret junk pile but from Antique Farmhouse. I didn’t spend a lot of money on it. In truth, I’m pretty picky about what I’ll spend for something.  Part of that is because I was a single mom for 10 years and learned to pinch pennies.

Pink Carnations and Aqua BottlesBeing a single mom really opened up my eyes to the realities of life and at the same time, provided me with many blessings. I learned to appreciate the simpler things of life and not take things for granted. I feel God blessed me with a new set of eyes that helped me to see the world in a broader view.

Easter Eggs and Pink CarnationsHow can I complain or be irritated with something as trivial as the weather? But weather does affect my mood so this is easier said than done.  So as I was feeling sorry for myself because it’s cold and gray, I laid eyes upon a field of robins looking for worms.

Aqua Bottles and Easter EggsSeeing Robins always gives me hope. The hope that the earth will turn green and breathe once again.

Easter EggAnd doesn’t the Easter egg hold the same meaning? An egg is a symbol of life to come and at Easter, this symbol gives us special hope.

Easter EggsHope for rebirth and a new life.  I’ve always loved Easter and it comes at a good time of year.

Pink Carnations and Aqua BottlesJust when you think you can’t take any more cold and gray days, you get to enjoy the wonder of the Easter season.

Aqua Bottles and Pink CarnationsFor now, I’ll be thankful that the days are longer, the robins are out in full force, and the daffodils are beginning to make their appearance. Spring is on the way and warmer days are right around the corner. Yes, there is hope!

  1. Jennifer I am right there with you wanting warmer weather. This winter has gone on long enough here in Illinois. I saw a few Robins in the back yard too so I am hopeful that Spring is on it’s way. Nice post. Love the bottles.

  2. I am the same way, Jennifer ~ the weather affects my mood ~ good or bad. The weather here has had more cold, grey days than sunny ones {I’ll even take sunny but cold} and since I start to feel stir crazy that makes me want to go out. Which means I go shopping! I have been limiting myself to Goodwill and the local antique mart so I’m not being too bad, but I will be happy when I can take that energy and put it into walking around the neighborhood again. Possibility of snow here tonight {for Pete’s sake!}. : )

  3. Jennifer, I so enjoyed your beautiful post. You are right, in that it is difficult sometimes to be patient and to have a bright outlook on some of the more “gray” days this time of year. We have had some really gorgeous weather down here for the past few days, but I think we are in for a cold “snap,” before spring really appears to stay. Thanks for the inspiration your wonderfully written and illustrated post gave me today!

  4. Brrrrr…you are so right, it is downright cold here in Chicago, the sidewalks are slippery, too. I don’t think we will be as lucky as last year with another early spring. Your post does warm me up though…those speckled eggs are just precious and I love the blue bottles, too. Always fun to visit you, Jennifer!
