I’m sitting here thinking of Easter as it’s blowing snow outside. Every few years we get an April snow and I guess this is the year we’re blessed with one last flurry of the white stuff. It promises to be in the 60’s later this week so the snow will be gone soon, thankfully. I’m also sitting here thinking of how quickly Easter approached this year, with all its pastel beauty. I love the colors of Easter and sprinkled them across my Easter table setting.
Spring flowers take center stage on the table.
A pot of grape hyacinths and 2 potted pink cyclamens lend an air of quaintness.
I found some aqua plates at Home Goods and knew they’d look great paired with pink.
Linen napkins get tied with a pink ribbon and adorned with a small felt flower.
Spring bulbs show their beauty on the dry sink in the background.
I love the smell of hyacinths … no other flower compares to its scent.
A stretch of pink filato paper is used as a wide table runner. Filato paper is a waterproof, non-woven material that’s soft to the touch. Almost feels like a thin piece of felt. A wide, white burlap ribbon runs down the center, with a narrower aqua burlap ribbon atop that.
Of course, we have to include a few painted, wooden eggs at our Easter table setting.
Once the snow melts outside and Easter dinner is over, I’ll plant these spring flowers outside so that I can enjoy them next year. I bought most of them at our local April flea market, which costs less than buying them at the garden center.
Now that the Easter table setting is ready to go, I just have to figure out the menu!
What are you having for Easter dinner this weekend?
Even though summer is a busy season, I do love summer dinner parties. Whether it’s here in my home, at a friend’s house, or even at a local restaurant … there’s just something about gathering with friends and family to break bread and enjoy a little vino. Today is the second Wednesday of the month…
Beautiful pink tulips are the inspiration for a sweet and soft pink and gray Valentine table setting. Seeing tulips at the grocery store for purchase has helped to brighten my spirits. We had two snowstorms one week apart in our area, which doesn’t help to relieve the winter blues. It’s funny how something as simple as…
Who needs a refreshing collection of spring blooms to brighten the day? I know I do! I’ve been swooping up purple hyacinths wherever I see them. I find the purple ones to be more fragrant than the other colors. I have them in three rooms so far and love the scent when I pass by…
Easter is less than 2 weeks away! How do these holidays always seem to sneak up on us? I’m having Easter brunch at my house this year so I’m getting a few decorations up because I know the grand kids will enjoy it. I remembered I had glass globes and decided to give them a…
Last weekend I invited my daughters over for a lite lunch and a bridal planning pow-wow. My daughter Stephanie gets married this June (her sister Bridget got married last October). Bridget had a country style wedding while Stephanie’s big day is all glitz and glam. It’s been fun having 2 very different wedding styles to…
Although Autumn is my favorite season, I hate letting go of Summer, so the arrival of Fall is bittersweet for me. Fall brings with it a rich range of colors but I thought for the end of summer, a neutral tablescape would be the perfect choice. I started with a strip of dropcloth and added…
Your Easter table looks so pretty, Jennifer. I love the soft pink filato paper runner. I’ve never heard of that before. I haven’t planned Easter dinner yet as we have such a busy weekend with church music, practice and services. It might be ham though but won’t be a big affair. I hope your snow is gone soon and that you have a great week and a blessed Easter. Pamela
I’ve never heard of the paper you used as a runner, very interesting. We has snow last night too, and the day before it was 75. I am over winter and ready for spring (full time). Your Easter table is adorable with all it’s colors and textures.
Very pretty, Jennifer! I love all the pastel colors. Woke up to snow, also, here in southwest Ohio, but I knew from the forecast it would be there. Still can’t believe it though. I just keep thinking, “Come on! Really!?!”. : )
Your table is so pretty. I love the colors of Easter/spring also. I woke up to snow on the ground here in Ohio too. Crazy weather. The past few days it was in the 70’s. Happy Spring!!!!
Jennifer what a beautiful table. I love the dishes you found from HG. Isn’t that place the best, love it and can’t wait to get back to it when the house is finished. I also love all your eggs.
Your spring table is sheer delight. Love the soft aqua plates and pretty pastels. The hyacinths in the dry sink are a lovely touch. I can smell their wonderful fragrance just looking at your post. Happy Easter!
