English Cottage: Charming Home Tour
How many of you fell in love with the little stone cottage featured in the movie, “Holiday”? Cameron Diaz plays the starlet who vacations in a charming cottage to escape her Hollywood life for a couple weeks. An English cottage is featured in today’s charming home tour, but this one has been updated. (All photos by Chris Snook, found on Houzz.)
You’ll find a recurring theme of decorating with neutrals throughout this lovely English cottage. Note how textures keep the rooms from feeling ho-hum. A cool, stone fireplace takes center stage, flanked by a tufted couch, an upholstered ottoman, and a faux fur throw.
A farmhouse table becomes the focal point in the cottage kitchen.
Pendant lights create ample lighting while simple Roman shades add a bit of color to the kitchen.
Beautiful gray tones populate the elegant dining room with upholstered chairs and a glass table.
Pretty wallpaper adorns the shorter wall in the bedroom. A skylight directly over the bed provides opportunity to gaze upon starry nights while drifting off to sleep.
A gorgeous wood dresser graces the upstairs hallway of this charming English Cottage. The patterned window shade lends an air of elegant style.
The Route 66 sign in the boy’s bedroom caught my eye, because we live fairly close to that historic route, formerly known as the Will Rogers Highway, that runs stretches over 2,000 miles across America. I did a little research and found that England has its own Route 66. Who knew?
A small window in the bathroom lets in ample sunlight. A gallery of mirrors on the wall help to bounce the light around the room.

That cottage is indeed a charmer!!! So beautiful!! Have a great week!
What a fun tour! I loved it, and thanks so much for sharing this lovely home with us.
While this cottage is definitely lovely, It is a bit too modern for my taste. I much prefer the one in “Holiday” and its cozy, charming decor. I think I have to look it up on Netflix now and have a little Christmas in July! Thank you, though for the peek inside your
Charming Home Series.
